Nexus 5 Case Reccommendation! The amCase Hybrid Bumper Case Review

I got the amCase Hybrid Bumper Case in Black for my new Nexus 5 over the weekend and had a chance to use it with my phone the past few days. I am so far very impressed with the case - it offers protection and style and was a great price on Amazon.

The bumper part of the case is made of a nice black rubbery plastic that molds to the phones form, feels a lot like the phones own sides. The bumper part is the black part of the case and it also has a clear matte plastic back that protects the back of your phone. This is what I guess makes it a hybrid, it has both qualities of a bumper and a case. I like the back being somewhat clear, as it lets me still have my Nexus logo visible through the back of the phone. Sort of has a cool frosted look thru the back of the case.

It has all the buttons covered and cutouts where needed on the device. My headphones fit great into the plug jack (I have heard some of the other nexus 5 cases are not fully cut out around the plug jack) and the speakers along the bottom are open and clear.

This case was a steal! I payed $5.95 on Amazon and had it shipped in 2 days and it was on time. It is a great case for the price - it offers style and protection for less than 10$ All of the other brands I looked at were over 25 for the same amount of protection. So I tried this amCase brand and I am very surprised!

Thanks for the review I just order one.I received my Spigen ultra hybrid case today while I love the design I can see that the back will scratch up very easy.

I havent noticed any scratches yet on mine, but I will update the post if I do. Though, I assume any sort of hard plastic case has some scratch-ability to it...

I'm just curious. I haven't received mine yet, but in the user reviews of the Ultra Hybrid case many are saying that what is getting scratched is a thin film that should be removed and that the case itself doesn't get scratched. Have you tried removing the film if there is such a film? If the case really does scratch that easily, it should be sent back.

I guess I'll see when I get mine.

I haven't had any scratches. I think Hook is correct, everybody reporting scratches simply didn't remove the film.

Yes I removed it but it's clear plastic so there's no way it's not going to scratch over time.

I still prefer the new amCase I got. The spigens I have had in the past didn't impress me and always scratched easily. This one doesn't seem to have that yet.

I just received my amCase and I like it. I would call the back of the case "see through frost". Looks like it's not going to provide as much protection as my Spigen Slim Armor, but I like the fact it's a bit slimmer. I like the panda look of my phone and this case let's me keep that and still give it some protection. Worth the $5.95.

I received my case as well not a bad case but i'm still really liking the material of the Spigen.I cut out the little nubs inside it to make the buttons less sensitive and i'm going to put a screen saver on the back to down on the scratches.

The amCase fits very snug. However I didn't like how tight it was on the buttons. So I made the mistake of trying to cut them out. Not only did I cut my finger it was a dumb idea. They are too far in to push easily. I just order a new one. So happy they are $5.95.

Always feel better with some kind of case. The amCase was cheap, I got it quickly, and it fits well. Thanks for the heads up OP
