Incredible vs. iPhone 3GS

I have noticed a lot of people have talked about switching from AT&T. Here is a video that shows the capabilities of both phones pretty well.

I agree, but it looks like the Inc takes the iPhone hands-down in nearly everything except battery life. It's nice to see

It's an unfair comparison for the iPhone, seeing how it is nearly a year old... I'm not really interested in such a comparison but an interesting watch nonetheless. The iPhone OS is fast and competes well with the DInc but really a useless comparison.

Don't be fooled by the comparison in battery life as you can get an extended battery for the Incredible that adds something like 33% more life or something like that.

Hmm Where I live (Cleveland suburb area) Verizon is easily the best. Every other carrier you have to be outside to get a signal lol. Guess it all depends where you live.

Is it just me... or is there some weird blue hue on the iPhone in the video? The Droid Incredible's colors look brilliant but the iPhone's colors have an awkward blue tint.

I this it's related to the angle of view. If you view it head-on, there's no blue tint.

It may be useless and unfair but we all know iphone cultists and it will be nice to have a vastly, demonstrably better phone. The more they see how nice it is to live outside the iTunes veal pen, the better...

It's because of the LCD backlight. It's the screen technology.

Better is a matter of perspective. There are still things the iphone can do that ours cannot, and there are things the incredible can do that the iphone cannot. The best part is you have a choice and its up to you to make that decision.

That is kind of mentality that made me sell my iphone 3g.. I was almost embarrassed to take my iphone out in public.

I was embarrassed to be associated with the likes of people like your "iphone sheep", friend.

I'm up for using any kind of cool phone, except now from experience with the 3g.. I'm almost the opposite of your friend.

I am an iPhone (3GS Jailbroke) user, switching to Verizon because AT$T pretty much sucks unless you live in a big city and never travel anywhere other than big cities. My Edge speeds are less than dial up speeds. Looking forward to 3G which Verizon does have in my area, and pretty much anywhere I go.

So, will sell my 3GS and tell AT$T to stick it.

How is comparing the latest/best phone from Apple to the latest/best phone from HTC unfair? Competing phones are rarely released at the exact same time, yet they are still compared. When the new iPhone comes out, will it be unfair to the DI because it is 2 months old?

All I know is, I'm currently a 3GS user, and willing to break AT&T's contract for the Incredible. I've placed the order - and will give the Incredible a test drive for the next couple of weeks. I'm giving up a few key apps (i.e. Chase Bank, Slingplayer for now), however I'm thinking it will be worth it. If the bluetooth streaming music works with my new Toyota Venza, I'm sold. For some reason, I can only get Edge throughout half of my downtown Chicago office. It's worth giving Verizon a chance! (although their customer service has pissed me off in the past)

Currently I'm with AT&T and in nyc its probably the worst carrier other than t-mobile. What sold me over to verizon and the incredible was flash and 8mb cam.

2 months is a lot different than nearly a year...it's basic math

You generally have cell phones released in groups. It's unfair to compare a smartphone from one group of phones to one that is several groups behind. The new iPhone 4G should "up" the iPhone hardware enough so that it will be on competing level with the new phones that have come out since its last release.

Amen... I've had the option of using a friend's old iphone for a while but I just can't stand them. It reminds me of when people still used AOL and I'd ask them why, and they'd always say two things:

"I can go to sites that you can't!" (Yeah, the AOL ghetto of a few hundred useless, ugly corporate advertisements. MTV@AOL! AWESUM!!!)

"It's just so much easier!" Yeah, because Yahoo! was so freakin' complicated. How you define "having to take extra steps to escape into the REAL internet" as "easier" is waaaay beyond me.

And now we have the iPhone. My dad brags about how simple (read:crippled) it is, and I don't see why, because we've both been pretty well-versed in computers ever since he brought home a Tandy 1000 about 20 years ago. But he's a lawyer and I studied computer engineering, so I guess we've diverged a bit (he also bought an iPad) as far as what we want our computers, mobile or otherwise, to be capable of.

His other favorite thing? You guessed it, the gimmicky apps like "Shake it". See, it shows you random attractions, but instead of giving you a list it shows them one at a time and you have to shake the phone each time. Wheeee! And, of course, there's a bunch of Popcap games that have been around forever, and a bunch of accelerometer games that were a lot more fun when they were first done on the Wii, in games like Warioware and Rayman Raving Rabbids.

The good apps, like Shazam, have already been ported. The really good ones, like Google Maps, are 10 times better on Android. The rest are a bunch of mediocre games and fart noise generators. He can afford to spend money on that stuff, but I don't see why he does... it's just a conspicuous consumption device.

The Dinc has gotten me excited about writing some code for the first time since I graduated from college. I can't wait. I will never own an iPhone.

I think it will be a good change for a lot of the iPhone guys - better service IMO too
