Help Sense 5/6 discussion / setup (Blink feed, etc.)

Hey all, I'm new to the community and just got my HTC One. I love it. I really like the Blinkfeed feature, however there's one thing that I can't figure out. On my Facebook news feed I have all of pages that I "Like" unsubscribed, i.e. I don't get their updates spamming my news feed.

On the Blinkfeed however, all of these pages' updates and posts spam the feed. Is there anyway to prevent this? Or does Blinkfeed not block these posts?

Thanks

HI I got my HTC One this morning.
The one thing that I am missing is what was on my s4, is I could drag my fingers down the screen and see what was turned on
for example wi-fi, data, and lots of other things.
I could also turn them on and off from here.
I am wondering if there is a widget or some way of having this or similar on the Htc One.

Thanks in advance.

So my weather widget is stuck in current location...

I searched this and the only thing I could find was how to get my location working properly... I don't want my location I want it to default in the widget to a manually entered location....

Any ideas?

Loving the One so far coming from s3 and this is a far superior device!

Hi, are you referring to the one on the BlinkFeed screen? I don't think you can change the location on that one.

I've set my next screen as home and put the same widget on but you can set a different location. There were 8 cities on the default list but you can add your own.

At the moment I've got the widget on all four screens with a different location on each one.

Just got the sense 5.5 update (with android 4.3) and the difference is obvious straight away, phone just works better. Camera has definitely had some form of improvement as the photos seem to have a better balance between whites and vivid colour.. they are crystal clear at least when you view them on the phone.. I can see the difference in the pics I've took before and after the update. My battery drain problem has gone now. BlinkFeed has gotten the lions share of the updates, you now swipe to the right to bring up the options.. I have yet to find the part about localised content or the ability to turn it off but it's there somewhere, the way it displays stuff from Twitter and Facebook is improved, looks a lot nicer than just text. Dialler looks a bit different now & you can add widgets to the lock screen. Good update, no issues so far.

I installed the Google experience launcher today and I'll be playing with it for a few days, but I did notice that blinkfeed it's missing.Does anyone know how to turn it back on ? I actually like it

Sense widgets only appear in the Sense launcher. They're all part of the same package.

Hi, I used to be able to change the theme on my HTC with just a few "buttons" and now these themes are no longer available, I think that it might be part of the new sense update but I'm not sure... And before people tell me to change my background that is not what I mean :p

Do you mean the skins?

If so then they were deleted in Sense 5 and above.

most likely this just occured for you. this has been discussed across other devices over the years.

its a temporary issue and should correct itself. give it a day or so.

just to be on the same page:

are you rooted?
what carrier?

read starting at post #210 in this thread to see the discussion.

I keep changing it to my hometown but it always goes back to "Current Location"
It's like that on my weather widgets and my Blinkfeed

Any fix?

Thanks

Hi, you can't change the location on the BlinkFeed widget, you can only view other locations. You can change the location on any home screen widget - long press the widget, drag it to 'Edit', top left of screen, and select a location from your list.

Hi, small issue. I recently bought the HTC ONE and updated to 4.3, before I updated I was able to tweet from the blinkfeed screen and search using the pencil icon, however thats gone since the update, the only button left is highlights. Is there anyway to get it back? Thanks :)

Hi, the search function is still there - if you tap the 'Highlights' button or swipe to the right from any BlinkFeed screen there is a 'Search for content' box top left.

You should also still be able to tweet from BlinkFeed - I can't remember whether I had to re-enable Twitter after the update to 4.3, if you tap + (next to the search box) after swiping right, go to 'Services and Apps' and check that Twitter is ticked.

:)
