Root [MetroPCS] Wifi tether

Yes it works! Took me some time to find the correct configuration. This is the only app I found to be able to bypass the native tether app on our S4. Working like a charm with unlimited plan (using right know to write this post on my tablet) Thanks genmiami.

How about posting the details so others can use the app. Details like what exact settings to use are probably more useful than "yay! I got it to work!"

Guess I'm stuck.
Used those settings exactly and all it does is hang 'waiting' for ten minutes but nothing happens.

same here , all the reviews i read like 10 said the dev responds fast, lets see

the dev fabio said when that happens means you have problems with root access. super user needs to be updated or
although i sent him photos of titianum backup ,root browser and his app in the allowed list in super user. then i actually read his message that said to install superSU so i had to say i was sorry i wasnt listening and being foolish , i just did a cwm back up
did what you said to do and installed suoerSU and it said the binaries needed to be updated
and asked to try and reboot using cwm, upon boot up i clicked yes then
completed and booted up then i see an icon
super user open up and said kinda the same thing superSU did it needed
to update binaries , didn't know if it would conflict with superSU or
what to do so i clicked cancel and then opened superSU and it said
another app installed could cause conflicts with it and asked if i
wanted to uninstall them/it , again i clicked cancel. and tried to Run
wifi router with same results,
He said you can not hold 2 app for super user you have to leave ony installed superSU you update the binary super SU then please try app.
so i went to applications and could only chose disable for super user so i did and rebooted and still same results.
then he said to uninstall his app and reinstall , tried again and still hangs on (wait...)
he said it is a problem with my device and said to try and find a solution.lol

It works I did it for the first time last week. Follow dannyvw settings.

I bought the app too...but its useless unless you have the "correct kernel" and this might only work with touchwiz related roms......
so just tailor your phone experience by what whatever your needs are to what rom delivers it...

I used to have the time to tweak and do the build props etc..and make my own roms- but I just dont have the time anymore...so I am using a rom that just works...
the aokp and cyanogen variants are fly by night... but I'm having more luck with Deodexed_Rooted_M919N_MF2 it works with the tether.
touchwiz flavored roms and plain stock rooted .... where I got this wifi router to work finally.

Am i doing wrong? i was able to get it working no problem, but every time i click on YouTube or something i get prompted to add the hotspot feature to my plan? is that normal? or am i missing a step?

You're missing the last step...its called user-agent spoofing.

They filter their traffic based on HTTP "user-agents". Browsers each have their own user agent. If your user-agent matches a known user-agent like IE or Chrome (anything other than android really) the carrier will reject the traffic and in our case, show you a generic page telling you to buy the tethering plan. However, if an unknown userAgent is used or No user agent, your traffic is accepted and the web page loads properly. So many protocols work automatically including HTTPS (because of its encryption), all except for HTTP.

So to get around this all you have to do is change the browser to a user agent profile that isnt blocked. If you

maybe the browser is not a full fledged computer browser. gets treated as a tablet. or she just uses the https:// sites like social networks, youtube etc.
instead of using a mobile user agent i like to use one that resembles a full browser, just one or two version older than latest so i get a pass at tethering check but also enjoy a normal browsing experience. mobile browsers are so annoying on a computer.
here is the one i am using now.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0
