Hey guys. Just got my sxc new tattoo, really liking it.

I have got over the hump of saving my contacts to phone instead of google and i now have every thing synced to google and then synced into thunderbird/lightning/sunbird on my comp. Never have to go through the nasty of plugging my android in again!

The problem im having is when adding a Google contact; i have to do it about 3 times:
1. Create contact, if i put a phone number or facebook link in it disappears when the contact made, leaving just a name
2. Edit and add phone no. Again, linking a fb acct dissapears when i press save
3. View contact, go to status and updates, click the suggested facebook link (thankyou captain obvious)
It works fine with phone contacts but not the google flavour btw. Im not sure if this is a people app problem or an android one. Would a diiferent contact adding app help?

Also is there any way of making google the default when adding new contacts so i dont make my original mistake again?

Finally ive written this on my htc but its damn hard with no predictive. Any way of starting predictive in different types of text box?

Thanks a bunch

Sam

It is enabled but it isnt coming up in this text box. Is there any way of overriding what it has decided to do for this? If i switch to the other keypads it works the same as when I'm texting but the qwerty prediction aint there.

Thx

It depends on which app you are using, some of them do not support predictive text even on qwerty..especially some browsers.

Well it works on facebook. Im using the default browser. Any advise on browsers? Opera and dolphin i have heard of i think...

Any advise from any1 on my main problem? Is anyone else able to reproduce the problem?

ok. thanks very much for trying... worth a shot

will i lose anything important if i clear data for the people widget? might kick it into gear or something

i think it may have started defaulting to phone as the first contacts i added were to phone cos i didnt know what i was doing.

It works fine on mine. No problems, so sorry can't suggest anything other than it is a conflict with another app, or maybe even Sunbird etc...?? I just use Google contacts on the web.

As for predictive text, I've given up on the full QWERTY and use the compact QWERTY this then has the little button that allows you to switch between X19 / ABC.

The only way to disable the boot sound is by rooting your Tattoo and then editing a couple of boot files. Wanna try?

is the rooting all good with the tattoo now? i had a look on some of the pages and it seemed that some of the stuff/values was being guessed...

how long will it take? i might have a go at the weekend.

About two hours, one, if you know what you're doing. Check this link.

[TUT HOW-TO] ROOT + Recovery + Flash Custom ROMs (update.zip) in Tattoo - xda-developers

Make sure you have a Goldcard created before you root, in which case you can resurrect it from the dead, if it dies of course! Alls given in the link.

Have a nice fidgety weekend! :p

yea but i have all sorts of other files on my SD card, and the only micro SD i have is the one that came with the phone

No problem about that. Just use the option in the OS to show all hidden and system files and dump all your SD card data into a folder on the PC. That'll take care of the card backup and the Nandroid would deal with the phone memory and the system settings and the likes. Then once the Nandroid dump (read Goldcard) is done, transfer the contents of the SD card ie the Nandroid/Goldcard files to some "safe location ;)" on your PC and then copy back the SD Card backup you earlier made, So you'll have root on your phone and all your "all sorts of other files :p" back in your SD Card. So there you have it..a pretty "straightforward ;)" way to root!
