Root WIPE, not "wipe"...

Backstory - I have a Motorola Droid Razr. I had it rooted at one time and I had Safestrap installed during this period. I decided that rooting this phone wasn't really worth it for my tastes and so I unrooted it and went back to stock. Right off the bat, I notice that the unrooting worked, but upon start-up, the Safestrap logo is still there. Long story short, I can't download updates, GPS doesn't work 100% correctly, and I am kind of depressed because the days are longer and the nights are colder... etc.

Question - Can I fully wipe this phone to remove that Safestrap crap and receive my stock updates and, if so, can I do it without a computer (aka, strictly by phone)? My computer is in the shop for the time being.

I think you'd need to do an SBF or equivalent, but I'm pretty sure you need a computer in order to do so. I don't think there's any way to do the kind of full wipe that you're looking for within the phone itself. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

Hi Doniago -- I am pretty much in the same boat -- looking to wipe phone clean and basically start over. I thought I had done that but I still have the SU icon and do not start up directly in the system (I need to pick a ROM).

What is a SBF and can you point me to some directions as to how I can do this?

I'm not actually sure what SBF stands for, but it's essentially a way of purging the phone's OS entirely and rebuilding from scratch. You'll lose root and any other changes you've made, etc.

This dates back to 2012 but might be a good starting point if you're looking to SBF your phone. Please bear in mind that I'm not an expert and this information may be out of date at this point: http://androidforums.com/razr-razr-...yone-asking-about-root-sbf-one-stop-shop.html

I recommend reading very carefully, and you may want to search around to see whether you can find a more current thread.
