I dont know if you guys still want me around.
but iam back on this scene as the kingdom is now my primary phone.
much knowledge and skill has been gained since my last work on this phone.
looking at everything now from a new perspective, it looks like the old devs didnt try very hard. not to bash anyone. but the work looks in the very early stages. ive been up doing some major updates on this baby, evervolv no longer supports the kingdom so i felt i could return.

right now, iam working on either finishing CM10, with wimax, and some sense 5 things. but i want to keep it lean and mean. the stock rom is a slow, laggy, resource hogging Piece of ****

i know kitkat is under development, thats up to jssa if he wants to work with me anymore or not.

anyway, just wanted to say i have not abandoned you guys, there were alot of things going on

We need developers like you. Welcome back!

Would it be possible for you to add support for pap/chap so that the data connection would work with custom apn, user/password? This would be very useful for people that use ruim from their cdma carrier. Thanks.

Nothing is impossible, ive never done it myself, but i could look into it for sure

What iam doing right now. is a "Pure" Aosp 4.2.2 r2 strait from google. "like the nexus devices" this tends to be smoother than Cyanogenmod and others.

Then iam going to fix things / get things working to my liking.
Probably going with a Sense 5 Look, widgets. just to enhance ita bit, but not clutter it down to a creeping crawl.

also using my modified kernel with ck2 patchset, sweep2wake and other fixes

I totally appreciate it. I should have phrased it like would you consider supporting it instead. You're right! Nothing is impossible. Sorry about not wording my request correctly.

You might be aware of it already but just wanted to share some information that might be useful. HTC Droid Incredible's US stock ROM doesn't have that support for RUIM APN PAP/CHAP but China Telecom's stock ROM for that phone has the support for it. Also, Samsung's Steller and Axiom have support for this even in the US stock ROM's. Just throwing in this information even though it's for a different manufacturer hoping that something can be extracted out of it hopefully.

Also a thread for an older phone running Gingerboard but it still might be useful hopefully:

Thanks a lot!

I tried to find some more info. For Froyo/GB, it seems to use APN for CDMA mode, a couple of java files needed to be modified in framework.jar(it was for HTC Rhodium though). Here is the link for the changes in the code:
https://gitorious.org/xdandroid/frameworks_base/commit/e0fa513741f513476a0d17d1fd6236b23d7dec02

Without the mod, the system uses null for apn, user and password. With the mod, the system retrieves the APN defined for the CDMA carrier and passes on that information while making a datacall. With this mod, the system will use APN info if set up or else it will continue to behave like it does now.

I'm hoping that similar code exists for newer Android versions for our device and would be easier for you masters to implement this mod. The devs for the other phone also changed phone.apk to show APN options in phone.apk but we can perhaps use AnyCut and get to the APN settings by creating a shortcut to it hopefully and not needing to modify phone.apk.

I'm just trying to be of some help here. Not trying to be pushy or anything. I would love to be able to get at least one rom with this mod even though I personally believe it should be part of all open source ROM's for all CDMA devices.

Hopefully you and jssa28 would make it work for us.

Thanks a lot!

I'm very glad to have you back to the development of firmware for our phone. Will not stubbornly insist, but would like to see any Sense 4 ROM for Kingdom

well, i had thought about maybe attempting a sense 5 port. its been done for a very similar device already, same platform. so its on the list somewhere lol
