Root Does rooting my AT&T phone to kitkat lock it??

Hey guys.. I have an unlocked s2 skyrocket AT&T-mobile... I flashed it using Odin to jellybean.. Now I want it to root to kitkat... But will it lock back my mobile?? Do I again have to get a new unlock code??

It sounds like you're not 100% clear on how the rooting system works. But then, to be fair, neither am I. :)

"Rooting" your phone refers to giving yourself access to the "root" functions of the android operating system, allowing added features like backing up APK files, certain bluetooth devices, etc.

"Flashing" is when you install different ROMs (i.e., versions of Android) onto your phone. Most phones needed to be rooted, although I think the Skyrocket is an exception. You would flash a different ROM--in your case, a JellyBean one--in place of the standardized ones provided by your service provider.

"Unlocking" is allowing your phone to use different carriers (e.g., T-Mobile, AT&T, Rogers, etc.), simply by swapping your SIM chip.

Can you flash a KitKat ROM on your phone? Yes. But it sounds like you're not entirely sure on how to do it, so I would read very carefully and learn all you can about backing up a recovery file, before you attempt to do ANYTHING with your phone.

And no, you shouldn't need any sort of unlock code to achieve this. You just need to have TWRP or ClockwordMod installed on your phone as a recovery (Usually the latter), and a copy of the kitkat rom in a .zip file to install.
