Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

Modem is independent of Android build number. Here are the links for VM/Boost modems as well as the Sprint modems (work just fine on VM, so should work on Boost as far as I know):

I keep all these in a folder on my sd card along with my other custom ROM files so that I can easily change on the fly since these are all .zip files to flash from recovery.

As far as recoveries besides TWRP (which is my favorite), Philz Touch has become a new favorite, it is based on CWM but extremely customizable with TWRP features thrown into the mix.

I want apologize to everyone for falling behind and not staying up to date with the new 4.3 ROMs and mods that can be used on our phones. I've had a lot going on lately and I haven't been able to test like I did when I 1st started this thread. I want this thread to be a place where people can come and find information on just about anything that we can safely run on our GS3's.

I would like to ask a favor of all our members. If you have found and tested a functional ROM, mod, kernel, etc that is not listed here and you think it should be added, please let me know via PM or here in the thread and I will gladly get it added.

I would also like to thank all the members who have contributed their time answering question, posting new links and helping out where and when they can. You people are awesome and I truly appreciate everything you do in here. This Boost S3 section is very lucky to have you as members.

Just to verify this is the correct ROM.

If this is the one you are talking about and have been running it with no other issues than what are listed in the ROM OP, please let me know and I'll get this baby added to the 4.3 ROM list. I looked it over and the bugs listed all seem to have a fix. Nothing major from what I've read and worth adding if you say it's good to go. Please verify and I'll get it added.

I've been testing it for a few days and yes I have flawless lte. I'm on the mk3 modem. It's running good so far. The dkp 4.3 testing kernel 12/5 really makes this rom smooth as well. No system glitches or lag at all.

So I'm getting ready to flash my phone with a new rom for the first time, since the phone is currently obnoxiously trying to pester me to update to 4.3, and everything I'd read about it has stated that doing so prevents you from being able to go back to a 4.1.* version again, and also overwrites whatever boot/recovery that you have installed with something called Knox which can even screw your ability to root, much less tether.

So in that respect, while I initially was looking forward to the 4.3 update, now I'm not... especially since I basically require root support. And I'd rather stick with one that looks like it came with the phone that way in case I ever have to bring it in for replacement (my luck with phones hasn't been that great, mind). So...

is MOAR still the best recommended in this situation?

I also checked out that link for the "new" Boost Mobile 4.3, and how it managed to remove that pesky knox from the bootloader, but then how it apparently still requires a knox app remover. That said, what is the difference from odexed/deodexed? It wasn't explained very well (if at all) in the xda link.

I definitely do not want to lose 4G support here... or MMS. So should I flash the MMS fix before, or after flashing MOAR?

Honestly this whole thing confuses me more and more every time.

No doom, custom recovery and root are still like before for the most part, just will require a little more research and knowledge. Only doom-related issue is that you cannot push a stock .tar file via Odin if it contains a previous version of the bootloader, as Knox will activate and permanently hard brick your device.

JD's ROM is the only stock/TW one that I've run on this phone, I almost always prefer to run as close to the latest Android builds as possible, so custom 4.3 is the bulk of my experience on this phone. Carbon has been spectacular, and tethering is built in to the ROM. However, I never have need of tethering and also don't live in a 4G area, so I am not a good resource for those aspects beyond what I have read of the experience of other users. Adaway is the bomb by the way, been using it for a long time and consider it to be a true "must have" app for root users.

You need to reroot by flashing the supersu in the OP, and I highly recommend doing so using philz recovery. I haven't tried TWRP, so if you have success that route, please let the forum know

Well, part of me really wants to stick with TWRP since it could still accept stock/standard requests and factory scripts. Not to mention its factory wipe helped solve my voicemail problem
