Black spots on the photo taken from S4

Guys, can you help me out what's wrong with my samsung galaxy S4? I noticed that there are several black spots coming out everytime i took photos on my S4. i already cleaned the camera (external) but the dirt is somewhere inside the lens. Is there a way to fix this? or does it require to replace the camera? i can't post any image yet as im a new user level on this forum. thanks.

im not sure if it's really dirt inside the lens but if its sealed, how did it happened?

Yes. My phone is 3 months old and this problem occurred yesterday. Before i only see one black spot but now its goes 6 to 8 black spots.

oh, the S3 and s4 phone cameras were different. i cant use the method used as seen in youtube link . There is no plastic lens cover either in my S4. so that means i need more suggestions from you guys.

Check very closely because the film is sometimes really hard to see. I've handled close to twenty S4's and all were shipped with the film on them. It is not the same as on the S3 it is clear film to protect the lens during handling and shipping. Like the one on the S3 it actually has an opening in the center and allows you to take clear pictures at first but after time lint and what not gets trapped underneath causing spots just like you are describing. The lens is still fully sealed when it is removed as it is just a thin piece of film.

i tried using a magnifying glass and the thin film was not really there. i went to a 3rd party technician and told me they can remove that black thing however, the warranty will void. if i go to samsung, the unit will take a long time before it will be repaired.

If you are sure that the film is not there I am stumped. The S4 camera is sealed really well and I cannot understand how debris can get underneath the lens cover unless it was not installed correctly in the first place. Perhaps a warranty replacement is your best recourse.

the only video i saw was the one with obvious thin plastic film. other than that its the lens itself. i hope some members here can post me a DIY way of cleaning the lens.

Are the spots large or small? Pixel sized or large blotches? Are they clearly defined or hazy?

It would help to post a sample. If you can't upload to here...upload to any number of locations and post a link. There are numerous ways to post photos on the Internet for free.

Did you try to tap one of the corners of the phone on a table to see if you can make the spots move around and dislodge themselves?

It looks like it's definitely something with the hardware, I would take it in to your nearest carrier store and ask them about it, or email/chat with samsung.

Thank you AeolianReflex I never noticed that small circular donut shaped piece of film. Thanks for the video link!!!!!! Easliy removed and makes a WORLD of difference!

I have the same problem on my s4. Maybe I have even more of those black spots but they look identical to yours. Did you end up solving this problem? Did you take it in for repair under warranty?

Does your question mean that the fix, described in the thread, has not worked for you?

If the fix you mean is removing the camera lens film cover, then no. I removed that film the day I got the phone. My problem is identical to the one from user rpgutsy.

I have used a blower, knocked on the lens, etc. They just don't leave.

If you have removed the plastic film, as per the video, and the camera lens is clean and dust free then I would suggest taking your phone to the nearest Samsung Service Point or your carrier and request a fix or replacement under warranty as it would seem that the problem is internal dust on the lens.

I ended up taking it in for service at a repair center. They replaced the camera module, under warranty. Now the problem is solved.

Although the phones are assembled under clean conditions, it only takes a few microscopic specks of dust under the lens, during assembly, to cause a problem.
