What Other Device(s) Were U Looking At Before Getting G2

So I'm eligible for an upgrade and was looking at the g2 and a s4...I'm kinda torn because I want a removable battery and a sd card slot, both of which dont seem to be very common for the new phones. I was just curious what you guys were looking at before settling on the g2. Thanks

to be quite honest .... just like most others....... my biggest hangups were the battery and the SD

but after rationalizing the fact that there are ways to navigate around a bootloop without a battery pool..... and theres no need to worry about spare batteries as this battery life harkens back to the time of nokias old dumbphones that you rarely thought about charging

as for the SD..... I came from 8Gb onboard and 16Gb SD and never filled that up..... so to have 24Gb available was just a minor concern...... especially since Im using the cloud more for a lot of things..... and with OTG its very easy to slap an extra 64GB on this thing

so what other phones...... well like you I had previously considered the S4...... I had settled my eyes on the Note 3..... but after holding that in my hand and then looking at the nearly identical specs to the G2 .... with worse battery life and no way to ever dream of putting it in my pants pocket...I decided the G2 was the phone for me

now that I have it and I see all the competing phones...... it makes me realize I was a fool for ever thinking otherwise...... pound for pound this is undoubtedly the best current phone available....nothing else (save the slightly lesser Note 3) is even close to the G2

as for the S4... my wife has picked one up to replace her S3..... she loves it...... but shes a simpleton (why else would she be my wife)

Only other phone I considered was the Note 3 (and N5, but not on Verizon so no dice).
Storage is a little bit of a bummer, especially if you keep more than a couple backups on the phone but there's ways around it. Like Copestag said, simulating a batter pull is no problem (yes, I've done it way too many times already ).
Battery life is phenomenal so I don't care that it's non-removable. If it was something like my Gnex, I would definitely have to have it removable.
Best of luck on your choice and keep in mind, there likely won't be another flagship phone released for a few months. The S5 is rumored for Feb/March, but again, just a rumor.

I was considering the S4 as a competitor. The screen didn't seem sharp to my eyes. I'm also having a love hate relationship with my Samsung SmartTV...

Battery life and replacement was a concern, but there is a YouTube video of someone taking the back off the device, and the service manual is online for download...

32GB is a lot of storage. But there are the Cloud, OTG, USB to/from PC, Wireless FTP, i think a share with PC option over WiFi (might be some as FTP), probably NAS, probably even BT or NFC solutions as options.

I was looking at the Moto X, Nexus 5 (waiting for it to be released and then being disappointed), and even the Iphone 5S.

dportal2006: wife has the iPhone5s on vzw. I have trouble hearing her clearly sometimes which is cleared when she changes hands... Not muffled voice but channel clarity. I think there is something with the antenna design of the phone. Don't know if true across the model. Could be a one off. However, it's very battery hungry. She got an external enclosure with big supplemental battery and now likes her device, but it is also now quite bulky and heavy.

If I've never experienced Android before I'd say the iOS user interface was OK and robust. However I find it personally a bit constraining and not as human factors / usability intuitive as it should be. Maybe too many years of using windows.
YMMV

I considered the IPhone 5S because i really like being able to operate the phone with one hand. It was the LG G2 amazing battery that finally convinced me to get it though. I have to say it has not disappointed me so far. I love my phone.

I've owned the S4, HTC One, Note 2, and the iphone 5s all on Verizon. All were good phones with my favorite of the bunch being the HTC One.

S4 was extremely solid, with only gripe being the wifi and LTE signal strength. Super flimsy hardware was annoying but palatable when using a case.

Note 2 was great, but impossible to use one handed and I looked like a moron using it as a phone.

HTC One was the best of the group, loved the camera and IR remote, and Blink Feed was great for traveling and plane use.

iPhone 5s was my least favorite of the bunch, and I don't get wrapped up in the Android vs Apple fanboy-ism. Fingerprint scanner was fun for 2 days, battery life was OK, but I never had a smartphone screen freeze as often. Also, had serious issues with VVM like many others.

G2 us a fantastic all around phone, with superb battery life, and super smooth processor. IMO the best phone on the market Right NOW. 24 GB is plenty of onboard storage, especially if you utilize cloud storage for anything.

Read the user reviews on your carriers website. I would be surprised if the G2 wasn't the highest star rated phone.

I came from a Verizon Galaxy Nexus that accumulated more and more problems and time went on. I was initially interested in the Moto X, but the specs seemed a bit lacking. I held out for the Nexus 5 until it was clear that it wasn't coming to Verizon. After doing some research, I narrowed it down to the G2 and the Note 3. The pros for the G2 were a lower price and smaller size, despite having the same screen resolution. The only pro for the Note 3 was the S pen, and I just didn't see myself taking full advantage of it.

I'm very happy with the G2 so far.

Initially considered getting the G2,opted for the NOTE 3 on opening day.
Ten weeks later (today),I traded in my NOTE 3 & got the G2.
The display on the GN3 was a love/hate paradox,if you will.
It's a nice phone,but,a bit big & I never used the S-PEN.

This phone is the perfect size & the U/I is what actually first caught my attention when this phone first came out.

I'm totally digging it,so much that I may forgo installing a 3rd party launcher,at least for a few days.

Only gripe I have is no wireless charging love for the non-VZW editions.
Perhaps the next incarnation will have it for all.

I really wasnt looking at any other phone. I was putting along happily with my Gnex. Passed by a VZW booth in the mall, picked up the G2, thought it was nice looking and I went about my business. Couple days later, saw a commercial and then I just started reading about it. Then I got hooked and had to have it.

Thanks for all the responses guys, appreciate it.

So does anyone know if u can transfer music, pics etc from another LG phone to G2 via bluetooth? I know u can backup all your files into cloud storage etc but it seems like it has to be done one file at a time with google drive and thats gonna be a huge PITA...Is there another app or something that lets you upload entire folders? Thats really my only sticking point on pulling the trigger on getting one. Thanks
