Root [International] Should i backup data to root my phone?

I have galaxy s4 running 4.3, i have never rooted any android phone, so do let me know is it important to backup data to root my phone, will root makes all the data on my phone vanish?

Also tell me if i root my phone will I still be getting future OTA updates?
and also tell me the easiest way to root my phone

You should really ask these questions in the rooting sub-forum as that is what it's for but...

You should back your data up regardless of whether you intend to root it or not. Once you start making changes to your phone when you don't fully appreciate all the possible consequences, this becomes even more important. Unfortunately, it's harder to back up unless you are already rooted but other people have faced this issue so a search of this forum should show you how best to backup an unrooted phone.

Something else you need to consider is that all the 4.3 stock ROMs have Knox Security built-in. This means that rooting your phone will likely as not blow the eFuse meaning you may have difficulty returning your phone under warranty and you won't be able to restore your phone to stock condition ever.

If you are prepared to put up with this, there are guides in the All Things Root sub-forum that explain how to go about rooting.

Make sure you read up about this before you jump into anything. Rooting isn't hard, but if you don't follow the instructions properly, you can mess up your phone.

thanks alot i'll read it, so do you mean i wont get touchwiz which is stock after i root my phone?
and i wont get future OTA updates as well?

If, at any time, you think to yourself "gee, I wonder if I should back up my data before I do this", the answer is ALWAYS yes.
If you're doing something you think might, possibly, maybe have a chance at screwing things up, then back up your data first. This is true on your phone, tablet, PC or any device yet to come...

Even better, back up your data regularly, then you don't have to worry about it whilst playing.

As lotus49 and Podivin correctly state... It's always a good idea to back up your phone, regardless of rooting and flashing.

Whilst, as per #1.1 of Rooting Galaxy S4 - Dummies Guide, rooting should not affect your data, I would recommend it.
