OK, the standard stock-nex-kernel.zip was suffering from the same updater-script issue, fixed it myself, signed, and installed.

same boot loop, even the stock one is bootlooping, now my device was OTA'd but its still 4.1.2. anyone that has updated their phone, please do a backup of boot, and upload it, you dont have to lose any apps/data. as long as your phone boots. thanks ahead of time.

This image should be good to go. Just flash it in CWM.

It was saying something went wrong. Downloading now though. Here's hoping I dont get caught out too. Like I said I have the official update.zip so i should be ok. If I get caught out I'll be off til tomorrow. Do you have the stock recovery img available just as a precaution?

I have stock everything, so no worries there I took the time to make a complete before-network-activated backup. I would like to get a new device, and make a literal before-turned-on backup of all the partitions, to return it to true stock. But that's money I don't have right now.

I may just do that. I totally didn't do that with the Kyocera Rise when it was on black friday sale, what, two years ago or something. >.> At this point, they deserve it. Jerks.

Hahahahaha I see my girlfriend wasnt the only one enticed by those cheap bastards. I been telling her forever to get rid of that damn thing, hell my flip phone was better than that piece of junk. Id have rather had a blackberry curve 8530 again! Then we saw this phone and my first instinct was to look up its specs and it was in our basket a minute later. ^_^ now lets make this baby purrrrr

Id have rather had a blackberry curve 8530 again! Then we saw this phone and my first instinct was to look up its specs and it was in our basket a minute later. ^_^ now lets make this baby purrrrr

If you head over to the Rise forums, you'll see I was the one that started the dev movement there too. HOWEVER, they're 'cheap bastards', as you put it, and won't budge for shit. They could have only 1 customer left, and they wouldn't unlock the bootloader for him.

I didn't even look up the specs for this phone until I got home. I was debating between this and the Event (Both of the $20 VM Black Friday phones) and Target was my first stop, which had this one. Took one look at it, and I had one in my hands XD I'm glad I went with this one, considering the Event is a Rise/Hydro minus the keyboard/waterproofing. All three are in the same rotting boat.

ANYWAY, this link should work now. I tested it on my phone, and the script ran without errors.

Tested = installed with CWM via sideload, and booted.

I can confirm that the latest zip installs from cwm/boots succesfully =) (If he fixes that typo)

Yeah, my bad. It wasn't a typo per se, I just forgot to ensure that the "assert(" was still there, which was what the ");" was for. Added the assert back, and that's what the latest link is. It worked fine for me, so let's hope it works for everyone else too!

On my girlfriends awe. Got stuck at black screen with red light and wouldnt go any further. Restoring my CWM backup now. Should I do this from a factory reset?

No, that was my fault. There were two typos, and I didn't see the second one. Fixed it as well, reupped. New link posted.
