ROM][MK5][STOCK][ODEXED/DEODEXED]- Virgin Mobile/Boost Mobile Alright folks, we're up and running. Just as the title says, this is the MK5 Boost/Virgin Mobile 4.3 update in flashable zip. Stock, zipaligned, basic. More to come in the future, but this should be enough to keep you busy for awhile. Enjoy.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for whatever you do with your phone. Please flash at your own risk!

PLEASE READ!
I've made a few changes to the wording of the OP, based on my own personal observations from running this build. This ROM is unrooted, even though it has the su and busybox "guts" in the build. Future builds will have all this cleaned up. In the meantime, when flashing, you must flash the SuperSU Update listed in the flashing instructions to regain root. Simple, I know. Just thought I'd let you know! Enjoy. Please visit the OP and read through the threads if you have issues that haven't been addressed here. Chances are they've been expressed and answered already [ROM][MK5][STOCK][ODEXED/DEODEXED]- Virgin Mobile/Boost Mobile - xda-developers
Thanks:
Google, Samsung, XDA

This was the first ROM I flashed after installing Philz Touch Recovery and it has been my main ROM. I try others from time to time but this one is stable and everything works out of the box. Thanks a lot for this :D Would love knowing what apps are safe to remove to debloat it better though I have removed some I would love knowing if there is more I can do.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the build. Looks like someone has done the hard work for you. I am pretty sure this applies to the 4.1.2 build, but a lot of the same ones are on the 4.3. Be sure to thank the OP.

Yeah I did mostly for 4.1.2 but I see lots of stuff that isn't in there and some that are so I'm Scared lol. I have all my backups and such made so if I remove something I make a backup first before I do and I know how to cover my ass for the most part lol. I think I just enjoy the feeling of knowing a dev actually debloats a rom as opposed to a novice like myself giving it a go lol

I have a personal list of apps I've removed from this build. I'm sure I haven't removed all the apps safe to remove but I can tell you the ones that I have. I'll get back to you with it. It may be tomorrow.

Remember, freezing the app first is a good way to see how the system reacts.

Excellent info. I look forward to your list of apps too. They will definitely get added to the ROM thread to help those who are running 4.3.

Edit: just wanted to add that making a backup of the app in question is a good idea too. Just because it doesn't cause issues at 1st doesn't mean gremlins won't pop their ugly heads up later. :D

How right you are!! Just a measure of common practice on my end I am constantly making backups and have all my apps backed up.

Here's a good place to start.

These apps are safe to remove but doesn't mean you want to. Some of the apps may be useful, but they can be removed without ill effects.

I believe that the printer plugins included in the 4.3 update should be added to the list.

http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=778877

Haven't had a chance to get a list of apps I've personally removed. I've been very busy today but I will eventually. Hopefully this will get you started.

Hey man, would you mind using the advanced option in edit and hiding these? Thanks :)

First of all, much thanks to ALL of you who have put work into this. Been riding on the coattails of many of you for several years with your work on the Prevail, but have finally decided it was time for a big boy phone so I picked up the SGS3 for my Christmas present.

So followed the XDA OP and all set up with philz, the Stock Deodexed, wifi fix, SuperSU, Knox app remover, MK5 modem. Also took jdsingle76 up on the hidden toggles, and the hotspot app suggestions (later in the xda post).

So now I am noticing some odd things about access to the card storage. Option from camera to store photos on the card is no longer selectable, I remember that worked for sure before i rooted.

Also access to the card from "my files" does not seem to be available like it should be according to what i have read so far (steep learning curve coming from the prevail).

Any ideas what I'm doing/have done wrong?

Top notch work....excellent build and I will be sure to give you ALL the credit during my next video to show the install...im sure a lot of people want an update to get rid of the annoying update notification .

Hey Knox, I absolutely LOVE your videos, you've made my choice very easy since I've been on boost....I've followed your videos pretty much since the prevail days :). I am now sporting a nice new shiny S3, and I love it, just now I am having flashing issues with cm11 for some reason, anyways that's another issue for another thread.

I do however have a thread for people that I can verify worked for me, and was very simple for removing the OTA nag.
This thread has 2 ways, they have a zip version, and also an apk file way....I chose the apk file way, and used root browser to move the file to system/apps then rebooted, and the OTA nag went away.

APK file here in this thread on xda [How-to] Disable OTA updates on Stock + Rooted ROMs - xda-developers

Link to root browser here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree&hl=en

I personally recommend using root browser as compared to other browsers such as ES file browser, because it just seems to work better, but that's just my opinions, and I also recommend doing the move apk file way, as I have not tried the zip file way and it isn't real hard to just move/copy the apk file over to system then reboot.

Hope this helps those looking to get rid of the OTA nag screen as it did for me, I really dislike nags of any kinda, including wife, sister, mom, apps, etc.. :).
