Root [Virgin Mobile] I messed up my phone. Yeah.

OK, so re-reading your original post, I am pretty sure I have a fix for you. Download the stock/rooted Knox-free ROM from jdsingle76 and install it. Let it "settle" for about 10 minutes after first boot-don't do anything, just let it sit and run. Go into the phone settings, update your PRL and Profile, your network info, PRL, IMEI, all that should now recognize again. Sorry as well for whatever hassle you got in order to reach this forum, looks like some members were super-helpful, and others very much not helpful. Welcome to the VM Root forums!

Thanks. I am at work right now and don't have it with me, but I will try this when I get home. Every time I've tried installing a rom lately I get an invalid signature error or something like that. Is there anyway around that? Also, should I get the deodexed or odexed rom?

Try using Philz Recovery. Almost every user here in the VM section uses this.

Also, personally I prefer deodexed. You can run odexed if you want, shouldn't make a difference in you getting the phone up and running.

I also have a problem with cwm. When I try to boot into recovery, a box pops up saying reboot failed. I tried using philz recovery before nd that's the problem I ran into. So I'm not sure how to get around it without using cwm.

Deodexed vs. odexed won't matter in terms of us trying to get you back up and running properly. My buddy Britton prefers odexed, it should run a bit "snappier" for you if you stick with it as your daily driver beyond just getting your PRL and Profile updated. Can present some theming issues, but that is definitely not something performance related.

Do you know anything about cwm not functioning properly? I've tried to reroot using motochopper or whatever it's called, but it stops just after it recognizes that a device is connected. I know usb debugging needs to be enabled, but whatever my phones running on doesn't offer that as an option.

Or is there a way that I wouldn't need to use cwm?

If you are game for it, we may need to just start you literally from scratch-install Philz, flash SuperSU v. 1.80, install JD's ROM and go from there. Especially on the Philz front, nobody on the forums has reported it as being anything other than out-of-this-world awesome and reliable. I would also like to know what your download screen says, which is why I asked earlier if you knew how to get there manually. Specifically, we are looking for the Knox indicators at the bottom of the script, either Warranty Bit 0 or Warranty Bit 1, indicating Knox is present and intact (zero) or tripped (1), or absent altogether if you don't have the extra lines of script. Let me know, I will give you very explicit instructions, as even the installing of custom recovery may still revert to stock recovery if you let Odin reboot your phone on its own.

First off, get the notion of using CWM out of your head entirely. It's pretty much worthless on this phone. Granted, Philz is based on CWM, but that's where the similarities end. See my previous post and let me know if you want to start from scratch. I am willing to give you very explicit instructions, I am also determined to get you back up and running again for sure!

I'm willing to try anything. I really appreciate willing to help me on this.

Are you on a graveyard shift or will you be off work tonight? Basically, I am always up really late, but will help you out on your time frame; you had mentioned that you can't do anything until you get home, so just curious. Tomorrow is just as good as tonight from my end.

My normal shift is 2:30 pm til 11. I'm working a double today though which is why I'm at work now, but I'm usually up at this hour anyways.

Cool. Night owl myself for sure due to an almost identical shift at least three days a week out of the five I work. Let me know when you have full access to both your phone and a computer, either post or better yet, PM me. I have Tapatalk set for quiet hours from midnight to 8 am, but if I am away from the computer my phone will alert me to the PM outside of those hours.

Ok, I probably won't get to it until afternoon or tomorrow night, because I'm gonna sleep when I get home then I have to be back here at 2:30 tomorrow.

Maybe after work would be best since we're both up at night?

Like I said, we will definitely do this on your time frame. I'm off the next two days (Sunday and Monday), so just let me know when you're ready.

You're much better off knowing how to actually push recoveries onto your device as opposed to relying on a third party solution. Most recoveries will offer a .tar file that can be pushed via Odin, as well as flashable .zip files that can be flashed from recovery once you have a custom recovery successfully installed. Third party apps do some things very well, but when it comes to changing important things on your phone it is advisable to have at least some grasp of what you are doing instead of "push a button and hope it doesn't bork five other things."

If u wanna flash a recovery use ROM installer or goo manager but ROM installer have all recovers

So please take this as friendly advice, but if you don't have something to add to the conversation that is relevant to the problems being experienced by the thread author, then please don't bother posting. Are you even using an SGS3 with either Virgin Mobile or Boost, or even Sprint for that matter? Your info beneath your avatar suggests you don't have a single common link to this forum. While most of us do browse multiple forums trying to seek information, posting should be reserved for moving the conversation forward in a relevant fashion. My two cents.
