Could it read your sim before the dude in the shop got his hands on it?
Welcome to the community btw mate

You also don't say it definitely doesn't work now; so can you confirm both of these?

We will also need to root the phone again before returning it to the original carrier ROM...takes seconds..14 to be precise!!

And a heads up....my experience with Sky go on a mobile is that it is shockingly poor!

thanks for the responses, the phone is unlocked but i think it was t-mobile originally. yes the phone was fine apart from being rooted. at the moment the phone works but says no network so cant make or recieve calls etc. its on 4.3 so think best bet is just to root it back to the way the phone was and live without sky go, but if i root it back will that resolve my network problem?? the fella in the shop said it would.

Ok lets try a simple root first....

follow this guide using Chainfires tool and Odin:

Root Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean [GUIDE]

This will give you a rooted galaxy with an unbranded ROM.

Note / Disclaimer......

This is for the i9300 (international) version only. Odin can brick your phone so be warned!! Ensure you have at least 80% battery before carrying out the procedure. TBH I've done it with less than 20% but you'll be in a heap of trouble if it fails!!
