Hi all,

I tought i would introduce myself, i have purchased a Samsung (GX) S6312 - not sure about the GX part... but it has android on it - i've never had a smartphone before and i'm pretty impressed with what it can do, and with how sophisticated are most navigation algorythms there. I knew more or less the kind of thing i was getting into, but well i didn't except that much, especially for the price i've paid... So i am very happy with what i have.

But,

I feel not that much comfortable with having to recharge battery like once a day or more depending on what my activities are..... I mean, does that sound even normal for a brand new smartphone ?
I am beyond glad with all that my phone can do, truly am, but let's say i am on a business trip for 3 days and they won't let me plug my device anywhere(yes that can happen...) so what do i do?

I have downloaded DU battery saver, looks great but i can't tell it saves that much energy though honestly.

Also, this is what i am saying today, but what about in a year of time? will i have to live by a power socket at all times?

What do you think and what about your own phones?

Thanks
RC

Hello rolandc. I'm afraid it's true and is a common problem with most all smart phones... they consume a lot of battery. I'm sure battery technology will evolve and catch up.. or the consumer will be happy with a bigger phone just to hold a larger battery. But, for now we are on the losing end of things. A day on one charge is quite normal and in some phone circles might even be cause for some bragging. :) There are things you can do to trim down the rate of consumption. Disabling apps that you don't or rarely use will make a difference. Curbing the rate at which some apps touch the net (such as email, weather, etc) will also conserve power. It's pretty much a given that battery saving apps actually use as much or more energy than they save. Most seasoned smart phone users will shy away from a battery saving app.

I would recommend checking into the discussion area for you phone. You will very likely see some tips as how you might configure your phone to conserve power. Ultimately it will be up to you to decide what is important to you weighed against the power it takes to run.

I think this is a link to your phone's discussion area:

Thanks a lot oldbriar for your reply, that's really what i had wanted to hear. even better, because not only i know now that my battery is okay, i mean from a hardware point of view, but then now on i should be able to figure out a way to save enough power without having to rely on power-saving apps any longer.
Also yes, i'm looking forward to learn from loads of tips elsewhere on this forum. And yeah i'm sort of wondering why manufacturers couldn't improve the battery/phone specs ratio for now, i mean i don't mind a bigger/heavier battery if i know my phone will last two days instead of one :) really makes a difference knowing i bought the phone almost only to stay in touch while on the move:)

Welcome to the forums :)

Thanks for joining and I hope you enjoy your time here! :)

Honestly certain devices have some decent battery. Getting an extended battery is a good idea, just make sure to read the amazon reviews or any reviews that matter since some are poorly made and very cheap.

I have the Note 3 and the battery life is pretty darn good.

Thanks a lot too Digital Controller :) Extended batteries sound like they have some sort of future with me, didn't know about them so that's interesting.
Note 3? i've googled it just now, very nice specs :)

Yeah it's a great device. I really am all about good battery life in a device and hate having to take out the charger in the middle of the day. I know my last device was horrible about battery life so I had to buy an extended battery.

If you go to your phone's forum then more than likely you be able to get some responses about extended batteries :)
