This would be nice if it stops thinking im driving when taking the train. :)

Although I'll have to admit, I kinda never liked this software. It made it harder to use Google maps and music while driving. And although I wish both Gmaps and Gmusic worked better with voice, for now they still dont.

Not sure how related this is to the device waking when being picked up.

Yeah, I don't see any pressing need for it, either.

As it stands now, I just leave BT on at all times and it will connect to the car by itself, anyway. It's never been a big battery draw, so it's pretty much out of sight and mind.

I just turn it on when I get in the car (it will connect while I'm in the house sometimes if I leave it on!), it would be great if it could turn itself on for me though! And GPS too, that would really be nice!

Tasker can probably do that for me but I'm such a novice with it still, and not rooted.

What I was hoping it would do is turn the BT on and connect to your car BT when it realized you're in the car. It doesn't do that (yet), that would be a nice feature. No need for me to use Assist yet.

Actually, from what I understand the point of this was so that once you were connected to a BT device known to be in your vehicle it would automatically switch to "car mode". It wasn't intended to automate the task of turning BT on when you got in your car.

It's not so much for BT to connect automatically, my headsets (Voyager 510 and Motorola S-11 Flex HD) connect automatically when I turn them on when in range, but to act as a "car dock" enabler like the first-gen Droid had (magnet in the car dock enabled a car dock screen) but using BT instead.

I didn't do much looking but wasn't entirely sure what it is supposed to do after the update. Thanks for the run-down!

I don't really use the car mode, if I want to use maps I launch it via voice command, same for making a call. If I get a text/email it can just sit there until I'm no longer driving. My car is so old that I can't play tunes through my speakers so I don't use the music feature. No real draw for Assist yet.

I just think it would be nice to auto launch GPS and BT, a wish list as it were :)

Tasker should be able to detect the notification that appears when the phone detects you're driving, and turn on Bluetooth automatically. You could then have it turn off Bluetooth when the device disconnects. Unless you're rooted, there's no way for Tasker to know when the driving notification has been removed (Android has an API for this, but neither Tasker or any plugins use it yet).

It is nice to get updates via app rather than having to wait for the blessings from AT&T. If Moto could send the OS updates instead of having to wait on carrier approval, everyone would be happier.

Gotcha, yeah, I agree. I was just asking because I thought you were talking about the app itself, and was wondering what you had found, if so.

Thanks

I just use Tasker to setup a task that turns Bluetooth on, export it as a separate app (using the Tasker add on), and then open that app by voice command when I'm in the car.
