to all edjamicated eris owners, I am sorry but have searched for over an hour and still can't get the answer.


HTC Eris, love it just small problems

Is there a way to set my phone or get an app that allows me to play all videos? sometimes I get videos and it wont play just a grey circle with a line through it.

another related question regarding powerpoint and excel attachments

its not work related so looking for a free app

There is no Flash on the Eris therefore you cannot watch most videos on the Browser except for Youtube.

There is flash on the eris, but its flash lite. Full flash will be on froyo, 2.5 I believe.

And look into offiviewer for your other question.

So far, the only phones that will ever get Flash are the N1 and the Incredible, and I think I remember seeing the Droid as well. Other than that, our phones can not and will not run Flash.

FroYo is testing and will most likely be known as 2.2, not 2.5. From what I have read, 2.2 will be built around Flash and therefore will not come to the older devices.

Another member on here claims he can not elaborate further on his statement that 2.2 can not be ruled out for the Eris.

However, it is for sure that the Eris will never get proper Flash. Neither will most phones on the market today.

2. I am a guy that always wonders if i am missing out on something, so havent added many apps since my first month are there new apps out there that are must haves?

1.5 comes standard. if you didnt do anything you are on 1.5
you can check under settings>about phone>firmware version


tapatalk is an application that runs forums. its pretty nice to have if your active in any forum.

i recommend you download swype, lookout, and astro.
astro is a file manager, allows you to modify your SD card from your phone. Also does backups of applications installed and makes installation on nonmarket apps much easier
swype is a keyboard replacement. just youtube it and you will see what it does. its awesome.
lookout is a security app. it scans downloaded content, backs up photos, call logs, and contacts. also can do gps tracking of your phone, and can turn on a siren on your phone if you have lost it around the house.

ok I have 1.5 but first things first

I downloaded swype (already had astro didnt know it) so I have it in my download but the directions say to unzip file how do I unzip file? I think my phone did it on its own cause it says SwypeReference-WVGA854-trial-release.0.35.3959.apk.
if thats true how to I save it to sd card?

install barcode scanner if you dont already have it and scan this.

I must be that stupid. I think i have it, hit install on astro went to settings and enabled swype but everytime I try to text it doesnt swype.

Is it cause I have handcent as my default? do I need to power down then start back up?
if i cant get it after all your help I will give up

So I had astro so its not that

I have lookout and swype now but battery drains a lot faster, which one is causing it and is there a fix to it?

Stock battery on eris
