Just switched from iphone 4 to the LG G2 after 4 or more years with iphone. My iphone could go several days on standby but this LG G2 cant make it more than about 16 hours on standby with LITTLE TO NO USE! I have all services turned off except for WiFi. I have searched this forum and others about various solutions short of rooting and none of them have worked.

I am very disappointed and will probably return this phone and get something else but if all Android phones are like this I may have to get another iphone. Problem is that I HATE the TINY iphone screens. Does the Galaxy S4 also suffer from poor battery life?

Sounds like you might have a bad one! I can go well over 24 hours with heavy use. Actually, i get about double the battery i got out of my iPhone 4s. Besides the billion other things that are better about android and this phone, the battery is probably top three list!

Wow thats awesome! Something MUST be wrong with it then. Last night before going to be I had about 65% and about 8 hours later it went down to 2% or so and was shut off when I tried to turn it on. Thats with nothing running and not using it at all. I have even tried a hard reset as someone else suggested but it still seems to be draining way too fast.

If you have not already done so, try performing a Factory Data Reset (FDR) on your device. When standing by or in use, this device should crush an iPhone in battery charge longevity comparison.

Honestly I suspect something is misconfigured on your device. Your experience is not representative.

The battery in your phone has to be defective. I easily get more than a day of battery life with my G2. Much better than with my S3. The G2 is much better than the IPhone 4S you had. You were just unlucky to have a bad unit.

Definitely go change it if you can.

as for me on stock I get about 2+ days of moderate use.... minimum 50 hours......... after root and custom rom I can usually go about 70 hours on a charge with moderate use....and thats because I dont let a phone go below 30% before charging typically...... dont want to get stranded

*daily moderate use being about 2 hours web surfing........ facebook updateing...... wifi and 4G on all the time...... typically 30 mins of streaming radio...... constant weather updates (weather is important in my tiny little realm).... tapatalk(forum browsing) about an hour each day....nothing extreme.... just moderate useage

if you are getting less than 24 hours even on heavy useage I would say you have a bad one......... something isnt calibrated properly or that battery is junk........ time to visit the store

this phone is easily among the best.... if not the single best...... for battery useage on the market...... and definitely leaps and bounds above any Iphone even if the iCrap is turned off

Yeah there is NO WAY I would even come close to getting that kind of usage with it as it is right now. I would be lucky to get 16 hours with MINIMAL use.

Yep there's a reason this phone was praised for its battery life, its fantastic. I think at worst i've gotten 5.5 hrs of screen on time.

Get it exchanged ASAP, i own the G2 for 2 months now and NEVER had any issues. I've researched all the forums before buying it and i know what may or may not happen. Yours is definitely defective : some kind of short on the motherboard, defective battery or one component is defective and is eating more batt than it should !

I can easily guarantee that until now this is by far the best phone and has the best batt life of all devices i owned.

Last test i made : 79h after a single 0-100% charge and using : 15-20min/day of Facebook + 20-30min phonecalls/day + listening to music 1,5h/day + playing Asphalt 8 about 30-40min/day.

UPDATE!

Earlier this morning I charged my phone to 100% and 9 1/2 hours later its STILL at 100%!! Granted I havent used it but once today but this is a HUGE difference compared to what i was getting. Now im thinking my battery meter must be stuck:dontknow: I did disable quite a few google apps and also wifi since I wouldn't be using it and just wanted to see what results that would give. Now I will have to try enabling each app one by one to find the culprit.

Any ideas on what the worst offenders usually are?

Sounds like you may have had a pretty nasty wakelock

IE some app was keeping the device from sleeping properly

I think you are right. While I was using the phone I could literally WATCH the battery percentage drop at a rate of about 1% every couple of minutes. With all this bloatware on her who knows what it is.

Maybe I should root it and remove everything I dont need.

I think there are some other potential user pools...
1). potentially those that need to perform an FDR and start configuring the device from scratch. I think it's just too likely that a bad software starting point because of memory location initialization might result in a service or other program running in a rogue manner.

2). those that accidentally configured the device to use way more battery than they should (say a very quick email sync interval and other stuff like that).

3). those that live on the fringe of 4G coverage, and the radios are cycling 3G / 4G (I think this could contribute).

Defective unit? Yes, it's possible some have a marginal cell. The miniaturization / complexity of the battery itself probably results in a distribution with outliers far from the mean.
