Help Bluetooth pair two devices at once on Note 3?

Can the note 3 pair with two bluetooth devices at one time?

My car has bluetooth hands free calling built in. It doesn't have A2DP so I can't play music through my car speakers via bluetooth. It does have a 3.5 aux jack though. Right now I use a 3.5 cable from my phone to the aux port. It's nice but over time I'm going to wear out the port on my phone from plugging/unplugging it all the time.

I was thinking of buying one of those bluetooth receivers that plug into a 3.5 jack. Then maybe pair my phone with that and hopefully pair it with the car radio as well at the same time so I don't lose my hands free phone capability. I can then maybe stream music while driving and if a call comes in, the car radio would take over and announce the call to me. I have built in phone controls on my steering wheel that I want to keep using.

Ok thanks. I know it can pair with the samsung watch and something else at the same time. At least I read that info on other websites. Thought it could do it with other devices. Thought it had two bluetooth transceivers in it.

Not true. I have a Bluetooth headset and a Bluetooth adapter on a Bose sound dock. I can be paired to both at the same time, though I usually send phone audio to the headset and media audio to the dock.

That's a new one on me, I've never ever got any of my devices to use Bluetooth simultaneously on anything. Even sharing files while streaming music has proven impossible.

Just wanted to give an update on this.

I bought one of the bluetooth receivers yesterday. Today I tested it with my car radio.

It can pair both my car and the receiver at once but it's a little tricky. If my car pairs first then the receiver pairs, my car will drop the pairing and I'll have to pair it up again.

If the receiver pairs first, the car will then pair and both will work just fine.

So I just have to remember to turn on the receiver first before starting the car if I want to listen to bluetooth music. Or just pair the car up again if I forget.

If anyone knows how to change bluetooth settings on the phone to keep a device paired .. please reply

While plugged into the 12 volt power the bluetooth receiver gives off massive noise.

I could buy some ferrite cores to wrap around the USB cable but I'd rather stop the noise at the source. Did a google search for a car USB charger that supresses noise but didn't find one.

If nothing comes up I'll just buy like 5 ferrite cores and place them on the usb charge cable lol.

I use the Verizon charger in my car and it has no effect on bluetooth. Sounds fine .

I've managed ways around that with certain devices. I actually noticed it more when plugging directly in via 3.5mm jack (using my HTC Evo and Photon before), but hadn't experienced the same connecting bluetooth adapter that was connected to the 3.5mm adapter.

When I did have the additional noise, I was lucky to have discovered (on here) the PowerAmp Music player. It has now been my dedicated music player for 4 years and haven't strayed from it ever since. What's great is that you can adjust the gain on the PowerAmp equalizer, so when there is noise, it allows for the volume to be adjusted accordingly.

Additionally, one caveat that not many people are aware of, but there is a safety setting on bluetooth connection where the volume level turns down, when a device is connected to a bluetooth headset. From what I've read, it was implemented to protect people from blowing out their eardrums when using headsets or earbuds. Since I sync to my Samsung HS3000 (which is connected through my 3.5mm aux tape adapter), every time I connect initially, I just double check that the BT volume level hasn't dropped down to the halfway mark. When I make the adjustment, it prevents me from turning my stereo volume up to high, which would add to that residual/background noise.

Not sure if that's the solution for you, but this has worked for me without fail, in my car.

To answer the original question of this thread. Yes, it's possible, but that does come with some things to consider:

1) Some BT receiving devices actually allow for connectivity to two different devices (e.g. phone and tablet) simultaneously. For example, the Samsung HS3000 BT adapter that I use (it's actually meant to be an adapter that can plug in any 3.5mm headphones), allows for dual connection (e.g. can connect to two separate devices). If I wanted, I can connect it to my Note 3 for phone audio and my Note 8 for media audio. I personally don't do this because I have a Plantronics Legend, which I prefer to use in the car, for phone calls (keeps calls private and if anybody else is in the car, they don't have to be subjected to listening to my conversation in conjunction with the music).

2) As far as I'm aware, it's not possible to connect two BT receiving devices (e.g. bt headphones, bt speakers) using the same audio output (e.g. media audio through car bt connection, as well as portable bt speaker or headset), but you absolutely can have one output device transmitting media audio and the other transmitting phone audio (e.g. media audio to car and phone audio to headset). All that would need to be done is adjust the settings (This can be accessed through the BT pairing screen on your Note 3 - Pull down notification bar>Hold Down on Bluetooth Quick Toggle>Click on Cog next to each Bluetooth device paired and connected).

3) It's actually possible to have more than 2 BT devices connected to the Note 3, if we're talking about a media audio output (e.g. bt speaker/headset/adapter), phone audio output (e.g. headset/speaker), and keyboard (e.g. bt keyboard). I've done this a few times with the Note 3.

I'm new at here, but have a tip for your problem.
When your receiver pairs last, it will overrule the "phone audio" output.
You should open the bluetooth settings and at the paired devices each device has a setting button. Open the receiver and you should uncheck the "phone audio" button.

My Note Pro tablet has a mouse and keyboard at the same time on Bluetooth. Don't know how it works but no problems.

I used to have this also on Samsung S2 & s4, a BT Mouse and a BT Keyboard connected at the same time as a BT Mouse. Now on the S5 running KitKat 4.4.2, it will no longer connect to 2 devices only the mouse OR the keyboard.

I think this is Android implementation not something to do with Bluetooth. I would keen to know how to get this back to previous versions where both would run as I use the tablet as an RDP client back to main PC. Using RDP with keyboard and mouse used to be easy.

Old thread but I cant find anyting new on this topic. Note 4 ... want to connect 2 speakers either both via bluetooth or 1 BT and 1 hardwired aux cable. Can this be done???
