Help Downgrade from 4.3 to 4.2.2? (Update Horrible)

So I have been on my s4 with 4.2.2 for about a month now, pretty smooth, no problems.

Last night my phone gives me the option to update to 4.3, okay so I do so.

How can you give such a buggy update?
One thing that happens is the wifi connection is horrible. eating my mobile data like i have unlimited or something.
another thing - probably the most annoying - I receive NO notifications when I get a text message or any notification, my phone doesn't vibrate, no blue light, no 1 symbol on the messaging icon, nothing. I have to go into the messaging app and check.
Oh yea another great thing, I restarted my phone then I received a whole bunch of text messages, awesome.
I also kept getting this stupid 'an unauthorized attempt b/s' from Knox or w/e. very cool how it doesn't show you which app is causing the problem. so I just disabled that for the time being.

Anyways, can I downgrade to 4.2.2??
What exactly will factory reset do to all my current messages and photos and things.

I am afraid it is not possible to revert to Android 4.2.2 once 4.3, with locked bootloader and Knox security prerequisites is installed. See post #1, Knox Security & locked bootloader on new firmwares.

The recent Android 4.3 releases are fine and it is most likely the update process of your apps and settings that are causing the issue or the actual firmware download was corrupted, particularly applicable to OTA, (Over The Air), updates. I would suggest a Factory Data Reset and check that the firmware update is not corrupt before reloading your apps, etc; that you should have backed up prior to carrying out an FDR.

The problem is that the factory data reset is a big deal, at least to me. It involves bringing the phone back to factory default settings. The last time I did this it took me hours to just get it back to how I had it personalized. I used Kies with the saved data to do this, not a small task for a non-techie data "dummy" like me. My point is, we shouldn't have to do this in the first place.

Shame on Samsung and the carrierS (pleural) for releasing the 4.3 update prior to its being ready - "debugged". Agree should not have to do a factory reset!

Your correct. (In a perfect world). Unfortunately, if you are running all kids of 3rd party apps at the time of the update, the issues the OP is having, can happen. Look at it this way: If you decide to get ride of your S4, you will have to reset up the new device as well. So in the long run, your better off just doing a factory reset and starting over from scratch. I don't like doing factory resets either, but when I have performed them, they did correct all the new problems that cam after an OS update. (the S4 will be receiving KK 4.4 early next year.)

Yes, it is shameful that you have to do a factory reset .. so the new update is coming out in january. Am I going to have to do a factory reset again also?
I don't want to backup my files every time there is an update, that's plain stupid. I made my phone very personalized for me, changed a lot of settings - this and that. and now you want me to do this all over again because you release a buggy update .. smh is all I can say about that.


I did not do a factory reset, I just took out the battery for a long time and now most issues are gone but it is still laggy when sending a message, and I receive that stupid unauthorized app notification.

I'm just hoping the Kit Kat 4.4 works a lot better, I really am not optimistic on this being the case if 4.3 can't even work good.
