G2 Buttons

I went to Verizon to play with the G2. I think I could get used to the button placement on the back but they were so small and indistinguishable it was annoying. Has anyone gotten used to them at this point or found a software solution other than in the notification drop down?

I have the Verizon version and I've found that I never really need to use the buttons. Knock on turns the screen on and off and anytime volume needs to be adjusted it is available in the notification panel. It appears and disappears when required. I also use the quick reboot app to reboot. I'm rooted and it gives an option to reboot to recovery. I personally love the button locations.

I had not noticed the volume adjustment in the notification panel.

Thanks

I can see the power button but what about volume control? Two steps with the notification bar control or fumbling/ miss touches with the tiny Verizon back buttons.

Yeah to me the volume buttons are still a better option than a 2 step on screen option. I use knock off/on all the time so the only time I occasionally have a problem is when watching media. I have on occassion accidentally turned off the screen with the power button while intending to adjust the volume.

I really do like the concept but I think it can be done better in the future. There are raised ridges on the power button but I still have issues feeling that. If they make it easier to distinguish the buttons on later model phones, I'll for SURE want that configuration again.

There is no reason they HAD to place a power button between the volume buttons... Could be somewhere else on the back.

If you get a case like the TUDIA Ultra Slim or other, you can find the volume buttons fast enough.

As another poster indicated, when playing media, you can swipe down the notification bar and adjust volume there if desired.

I've read in several placed the smaller buttons on the verizon model were a requirement of the wireless charging..don't know if that is true or not, but that is what I read. As far as button use, I have my phone in a billfold case and almost never used the buttons. That is odd because I actually like the button placement. The, I got a billfold case, though, and when using the phone I have the case folded over and use tap on and the notification center volume control.
