What if my data connection is off?

Suppose I've put a pattern lock on my device and forgot it.If I press Forgot Pattern, it'll ask me to enter my gmail login and pass. But if my data connection is off then how can I resolve the problem witout factory resetting?
I'm not certain because I haven't had to go through this but, I guess the gmail login/pw work without data connection similar to sending text messages?

Just a thought!

If your phone is rooted you can make a Nandroid backup that does not have the lock and re-install that backup should you need to(I use CWM-Clockwork Mod)

This is just one of the major advantages of rooting the device and then you don't lose all your info doing a,"Factory"restore.

Of course a clever phone thief may know of this option but I'm sure there's a way to secure the Nandroid backup as well and if you install an anti-virus like,"Avast" it has a phone tracking option and other security features.

HTH :)

Reading others post, I guess factory reset is only option if no internet access.

So the gmail info works as long as the phone have data or wifi turned on??? Interesting to know this.

where are some wifi connections that your phone was before? home.. friends.. work.. school??? where ever your phone has used before... it should still remember the wifi connection IDs.

does it still have the wifi on?
if not.. this is all mute!

reset!

Thanks a lot guys, I've figured it out.

So this problem was a hypothetical ? actually i think above quote is the best option imo.
