Help Connecting Flash Drives with OTG Cable

I bought a 64GB USB3.0 Flash drive thinking I could connect it to my Note 3 with a 9pin USB3.0 OTG cable but kept getting "Damaged USB storage" message when I connected it. The drive works fine on my PC (Windows 7). So, I just did a live chat with Samsung support and they said, "unfortunately, the device is not supported, at this time." Meaning only USB2.0 flash drives can be used with a OTG cable!
Does this sound right??? Has anyone else tried using a USB3.0 flash drive as external storage via an OTG cable? I would think it should at least connect if even at a slower speed.

I think it could also be power draw from the stick. The Note 3 probably cannot provide the necessary power to use the stick properly. Maybe treating it similar to an external hard drive where additional power is required to work.

Also, check file system the stick is using. If it's NTFS, the Note 3 will not recognize that format. Format to exFAT for recognition. But won't work regardless if there are power restrictions involved.

These are the only things I can come up with that can cause the issue.

Thanks for the reply! The stick was FAT32 out of the box. I tried exFAT and NTFS with the NTFS Mounter app available in the Play Store... no joy! I think I read some have been able to use External 3.0 HD with separate power supply. So yeah, It may be something with the power draw. I just would like to find someone else who has also tried it to confirm it doesn't work. haha! Well, hopefully this helps someone else out. I still have a week to return it to Newegg.

My guess is the power draw is too much for the Note 3. I use umpteen different ordinary USB drives and an old Samsung micro USB adaptor. It works everytime. I have never found an issue with them, even a Blu-ray ripped movie at best quality (A staggering 6.6Gig - "Blade Runner" , if your interested) works fine.

It's NTFS. Unless rooted, NTFS file formats will not work with Android. Only file formats compatible are FAT32 or exFAT. If given the choice, go with exFAT for greater compatibility and less file restrictions.
