Root [Virgin Mobile] All-In-One Custom ROM User Guide

I like the Paranoid Android versions, they have several size options. Been using the Full Modular, I linked this in my CM11 thread but there is a newer version (12/31) available from the PA page on XDA linked in the second post of this thread. I always debloat first to remove what I don't ever use.

I've never tried PA Gapps before. I might give it a try but seeing that I have already flashed CyanFox I'll probably wait till Carbon comes out to flash. Slow download from android file host as well, 208mb is big too, bigger than most AOSP ROMs haha.

BaNKS GApps are pretty nice too, with several options in terms of size.

Hello and happy new year friends, I can confirm that a build of omni rom by androidsftw at xda works. It has multi window and it works pretty well, sent and recieved mms just fine with mopeds fix. [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][KITKAT][AOSP][OmniROM][DEC 31, 2013][Cherry-Picked Multi-Window] - xda-developers

Thanks for posting this, I had seen this thread but was so unimpressed by Omni on 4.3.x that I hadn't planned on flashing until some more input was available on the 4.4.x version. Is the "cherry-picked" multi-window a reference to an AOSP version of the TW/stock multi-window? If so, that will make a lot of people happy!

yep more or less an aosp no frills version of the TW/stock MW. in order to use it you haft to long press home to bring your recent apps then hold your finger over the app you want to "add to split view". Works pretty decent so far, the rom itself has been stable for the past couple days to. Low on features compared to other roms still but at least the rom works without crippling your phone now (the 4.3x broke data on my phone i think if i recall).

Error 7 usually means that you didn't modify or remove the asserts.

Deleted the assert line per your update and Carbon flashed without a hitch. So far, everything is working perfectly.

I do have one question. On jd's 4.3 rom email messages were listed as Today, Yesterday, etc. and I could select all to delete. With this email, I have to check each message individually in order to delete. Is there a setting to change this? I was unable to do so.

Thanks!

I had the exact same issue with 4.3.x; don't know if doing the PRL and Profile update via a TouchWiz ROM and then flashing back would have made a difference, I was eager to get back to Carbon after just a few minutes of that version of Omni! So sounds like multi-window is still a work in progress as well then? That's pretty cool that they are trying to make it work though, I know a lot of forum users are fond of certain features from TW and certain others from AOSP and would like to see more of a cross-platform compatibility!

I always delete the Email and Exchange .apk files before I even flash any ROM, so I wouldn't have an answer for you on that part. Ditto for Gmail even, I find that I don't need to use my phone for Gmail, nothing I receive is important enough that it can't wait for home and my main computer, and Gmail especially can be a resource/battery hog. Hopefully someone with direct knowledge on the AOSP email function can chime in and give some advice!

Thank you. I know I may be the only one questioning that step in the first post, but maybe a note could be added in that section of the tutorial. That is of course if find it needed.

There is a section that describes what the first line should be after modifying out the asserts, but maybe I will clean that section up a little or post a couple of screenshots. Let me know what you think about that, I am always open to constructive criticism. Just because something makes sense to me doesn't mean I've explained it in written form well enough for others to follow!

From the First Post:

...The second is to remove the assert lines altogether, so that the first command in the script is "mount ["ext4"......" (external quotes are mine). I have tried and confirmed both of these methods, so either one is fine to use.

This looks great, I overlooked it today as the --------- update section from Jan 2nd broke the continuity of the instructions for me. I had thought you went into another step after your update on Jan 2nd.

That was what I was thinking when I first put that in, thanks for confirming the continuity issue. Will reorganize that section when I get home from work tonight. I think I will add before and after screenshots as well.

I found this thread over at Android Central that has a ton of ROMs and Kernels and other stuff for the d2spr (SPH-L710). I am assuming that most of this stuff can be changed to work with VM/BOOST. If you have some spare time I highly recommend you check it out. (Also posted on Boost side)

The handset is using the wrong APN - try manually selecting the bottom one, with "MMS" in the name, and see if that works.

While I'm here, could you please ask questions about issues specific to a particular ROM either in the relevant support thread or a new topic? Scattering posts all over the place is (a) confusing and (b) distracting.

Very nice user. Helped me through step by step. Had a lot of issues, and it took quite a while... buut we managed to get everything working.

Thanks a lot.

We like to run things around here like a well oiled family lol, its the reason I choose these forums

So if you ever have questions or whatnot never fear asking on here, we normally ask that you look on at least the first to pages to see if there is a thread for what ur question is, if not just make a new thread, well take care of ya

Then u also get many helpful friendly users, some like myself who are not experts but will attempt to help with trouble shooting till someone with more knowledge drops in or throws in something we missed

Then you also get the amazing guides, mods and Admins, they aren't like other sites, there just as helpful and friendly as the users

And last but not least some amazing devs, usually doing this for free, some except donations, but they pretty much make it all happen for us

Just a few reason for me at least why this sites just so awesome lol
