Root [Virgin Mobile] Victory on sale for $79.00 at radio shack this week

Thanks, but had it and returned it. Now have lg f3. Both lg and htc are much better phones than samsung. Much better design and qc. To each his own.

I have had ZERO issues with my SG Victory.

When I first got the phone I rooted and froze several apps. Last week I flashed the Conquest ROM and it is running GREAT.

IMO for $79 it is a very good deal .

great. To each his own. I do not root, since i want no problems should a warranty issue arise. New phones come with 1 yr warranty, which Visa card doubles. After 2 years or sooner, usually black friday weekend, i expect deals on newer phones.
got my eye on htc desire 601 for vm next. I also expect chinese brands like zte, huawei, meizu, and others to start selling in us market, with competition driving up features and driving down prices.

My new Victory came in 2 days ago and I started on some things and hopefully I'll have something for y'all soon brah. Hey Madbat, in regards to Carnival Season, I live 3 blocks away from Frenchmen St and you are more than welcomed to come and watch the Krewe du Vieux parade (The floats make fun of Politicians, lots of sexual content) cause it rolls right in front of my house and its effing crazy brah.

To each their own, but not rooting is a personal choice... warranty should not be a part of that decision. Unrooting is easy, you can always odin back to stock if you are truly worried.

I have never heard of anyone having warranty issues from rooting. Even people who use custom recovery have been able to take their phones to a store, and they never check,... just plug into their machine and reflash stock for them without even looking at whats on the phone.

I have never worried about that kind of thing. Perhaps I am just confident enough to handle anything that will arise, simply because I have an IT background and have IT Certifications, as well as teach classes for them.

It's not for everyone, if you aren't willing to spend hours researching and troubleshooting... then I wouldn't even bother messing with the stock phones. Some people amaze me with their inability, but all they need is experience, being a teacher I know that anyone can learn if they know where to begin.

Wanted to give everyone a Heads Up that that Radio Shack has the Victory for $79 this week. Y'all should jump on it right now before they sell out. I scooped 2 extra ones so I can really start to develop for this phone. Yeah you right!

Thanks for the heads up... I picked up two (one for me and the wife). I can't wait to see if LTE is all it is hyped up to be.

Well, he asked about finding out if LTE is worth it and someone else mentioned their area speed XP

It's fair to say LTE is EXTREMELY dependent on your geographic location.

Yeah (grumble grumble). Lol. Actually at 5 am this morning I had 20 down and 7 up.

2 weeks ago I flashed something that I knew I shouldn't have and effed my phone up but I called Virgin and played stupid and they sent me a free Victory. Of course I put stock rom and recovery back on the effed up phone before sending it off. I'm still in awe that they actually did that. The key is to be very nice, play stupid and have patience when you talk to them. Yeah you right!

Keep rubbing it in. Lol. Sometimes I get 10 down sometimes .08 Ugh.

Well after playing with it for the last two days, giggity, I decided I love this phone but my LTE pretty much sucks. Only once did I ever get over 1 down or up. I live in the middle of San Antonio and we are "suppose" to have very good coverage.

I guess I am going to go back to my Evo since I do have pretty decent Wimax coverage... unless there is a way I can use it as a hot spot and keep the victory. :smokingsomb:
