Weird Question - Sizes of different models

I just ordered a Note 2 from T-Mobile (don't think less of me, I'm hopelessly cheap) and I wanted to get a desk docking station for it (because I like to have my phone propped up for notifications at work).

I found a bunch of really nice cheap ones on ebay but some of them say they are specifically for specific models of the Note 2 like the N7100 (right?). But for power alone, it shouldn't matter, right? The phones are all identical size and the micro usb slot is all in the same place, right?

Thanks in advance for guidance.

The only difference might be if it included the wall adapter. UK uses a different socket and maybe power conversion. But if connected via USB cable, just use the stock adapter that came with the Note 2.

no the whole purpose of the dock is to have it standing up so I don't have to pick it up to read it.
Sorry, what I meant was that the adapter included with the dock could be what makes it 'incompatible'. The dock will be fine for either model, but the adapter may not. N7100 is the international version. The adapter plug may be different from North American standards as well as the power converter.

When you get it can you come back & let us know what you got & how you like it? I'm looking for the same thing.:p

ok so good news bad news

good news - it totally works - I have my Note 2 set up at my desk and I can watch notifications pop up in the lock screen without touching my phone (making lock screen notifications work was a whole different issue...)

bad news - the device doesn't sit very cleanly in the dock. A lot of the weight appears to be born by the dock connector which can't be a good thing. See this pic I took.

so I will keep it but I do have my concerns and I'm not going to rush out and buy a ton of these.

ok new development in my search for the perfect stand up dock for my Note 2. I found one and it's the best dock I've had yet.

I found it for $12 here :

Samsung Galaxy Multimedia Desktop Dock - $11.95

The big differences with this dock are two fold :

1) the note SLIDES so nicely onto the charging part and you don't get the very worrisome "THUMP" as you try to jam it on the other dock I got. Also it fits better - see that picture I posted above? This one has no gap - it rests flush on the stand.

2) this dock has an audio out - you do have to change a software setting to enable it but it's awesome and I love it. I just drop my phone on the dock and press play. No need to try and jam another wire into the top of my device. Love It.
