Help Nexus 4 water damage

Hey all,

I am trying to get my Nexus 4 to at least connect to my laptop so I can retrieve some of the media off of it. It fell in water and hasn't worked since. I have let it dry for over a week now since I already have a new phone. I was getting the red light of death but did a fix for it and now I can get the phone to power on but the screen does not work. There is a glow when I press the unlock button but nothing else. I can unlock it from memory and the volume buttons work and I am hearing notifications popping up.

So, I figured if I could at least get it powered on and hooked up to my laptop (Mac) Android file transfer would open but it is not recognizing that there is any device connected. I'm worried maybe it is set on charge only when connected to the USB and not as a media device.

Is there anyway I can override this so I can get some media off the phone? Or am I screwed?

Your phone is reclaimable refuse. IOW, it's damaged beyond repair, and the gold and some other materials can be reclaimed by certain companies in China that exist for the purpose. (They keep the profit, you get nothing.)

That's the first thing. The second one is that your media is now also refuse. (It's possible that someone with the right equipment could read it out of the phone's memory, but to have them do it for you would cost you more than almost any media is worth. Wr're talking thousands, at least.)

There are 4 things you NEVER do with a wet phone. Letting it dry is number 4 on the "worst things to do" list. Read Wet Phone It won't help you now, but knowing what to do will help you next time. (Or maybe prevent the problem, if you have a couple of zip lock bags.)

Might I suggest that more people look into doing ethical recycling, rather than sending your e-waste garbage back here....

Do you have TWRP recovery? if so try to boot into that and use adb instead of media transfer. you could try adb when the phone is on too but if adb debugging is not enabled nothing will happen and I think in recovery adb is always on.
