Is it even useful?

I am very careful with my android devices. Have never dropped or damaged them. I have them protected in some kind of case. I always wait to charge if the battery is less than 10%. My question is I see and hear many different opinions about screen protectors. Is it even worth it? I heard stories from people saying its good to protect your screen, but if you are careful and take care of your stuff do you really need them? I have had about 6 total android devices from cellphones to tablets, and never had a screen protector on it. I always noticed with the protector on it makes the touch screen less sensible(sp?). I am just looking for peoples opinions. I know it really all comes down to personal opinion for yourself since we would use the devices. Thanks :)

I think its smart to have that extra layer of protection in case of accidentally exposing the screen to sharp objects or when someone else is using it, they aren't going to be as careful as you are :)

I was under the same train of thought, until my N7 '12 popped out of my windshield mount and landed screen-down on my lady's purse.

The metal zipper and/or buckles put a few very tiny knicks, and three paralell scratches on the glass. Only noticeable with the screen off and at the right angle, but totally bummed me out when I would notice the marks.

Just curious why do you wait to charge if battery is less than 10%?

also I would say definitely a screen protector is a good idea. I just feel like the device is naked w/o it.:) I have never noticed a decrease in screen sensitivity at all with a screen protector either btw.

Nexus 7 has Gorilla Glass so I think a screen protector is unnecessary. Sounds like you've been careful with your other Android devices and have done just fine without protection.

My phone and previous phones with Gorilla Glass never got a scratch on their screens through two years of being stored in the same pocket as my keys. (Disclosure: I only carry four keys.)

I do think that screen protectors make the screen less sensitive and I don't like that. Also, the display on the Nexus 7 is so beautiful I wouldn't want a layer on top of it to possibly degrade the display.

Go naked!

I never had a screen protector for my android device, as you I am very careful. However I would get a case for some of my tablets, but for my nexus 7s I never wanted a case. If the device gets scratched, meh I don't mind. I'll never be selling the device and as long as they work well it don't matter to me. But the screen, I'm careful to keep unscratched.
