Root Performance kernel suggestions for stock rom?

I have been thinking about trying another kernel as well, I have been reading up on Franco Kernel.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823671

Seems pretty impressive in feature set, includes the kexec hardboot patch so multirom should work with it, only issue I can see is it appears to be for 4.4.

I may try it anyway on 4.2.2.

Well using the Franco Kernel Updater Free (FKU) I downloaded and flashed kernel r65 with TWRP.

It booted.

I dont know if FKU free shows you just the stable kernel or the latest stable kernel for the device based on the build.

I am running 4.2.2.

I noticed that Franco is on nightly r77 for the N7.

I suppose Ill grab that now and flash it to see what happens.

I still haven't flashed r77 to see if it messes up the N7, the multirom help thread had me occupied for a spell.

Gonna flash the Franco r77 nightly now and see if the 4.4 is just a suggestion or requirement for 4.2.2 .

Well that sucked..

:)

The Franco r77 Kernel does require 4.4. I quickly flashed it in Wugs as it was img format and the N7 black booted, that is the screen was back-lit but nothing but a black screen.

I simply booted into bootloader by pressing vol up+down and power, selected recovery.

TWRP booted up, selected install, then pointed it to the Franco r65 kernel zip as it was still on the device as i thought I might still need it. Reboot and device is just fine.

God I love this tablet.

:)

So what's the best gov to have it on and io because I've seen his stock setting gov is on performance wouldn't that drain the battery faster o_O

Edit: OK maybe not as much look at stock settings I like how he only makes it run on just 2 cores while the others are inactive
Edit2: he only has 2 cores running all the time and if necessary the other become active from first impressions this kernal brings back memory oh how I miss this kernal

You're right...Stock settings shouldn't be performance . Maybe you are having an app interfere? He tunes interactive on most devices. I'll have to check my nexus 7 later on tonight.

Yeah, Franco is a good all round choice. M-kernel is good for performance. Running LeanKernel at the moment pretty good for battery life.

M-kernel is great one problem it has is that if you have any heat/rubber touching the screen while the screen is off it turns on which isnt as cool anymore for me still the kernels in the quote are still good don't get me wrong
