Scroogled - Automated G+ Invite Violated Restraining Order

You don't send invites to get people to join your Circle (that's not even a thing). You can add people to your Circles (which is essentially the same as Following on Twitter), or you can invite someone to a Community or an Event.

Either way, how petty do you have to be to go the legal route rather than just clicking the Block button? My wife had some serious issues with her ex, and he would still periodically pop up somewhere and try to worm his way back into her life even up to our wedding last year (after we'd been together for five years, btw). He tried to strike up a conversation with her on G+, and a simple Block was all it took to get rid of him.

It's not just +, it's the invasive nature of all social sites and where it's going. Pretty soon, no soliciting signs will mean less than they do now, your phone number will be available to all and sundry, and your personal time will not be your own.

I got on this kick when kid was a baby. I got tired of having people knock at the door, or telephone when caring for her. I don't forget, and some I haven't forgiven.
Google hid the logout icon with big notices to join + on the PC. Sometimes you couldn't get around it and had to close the browser. (I delete everything on close) That was almost 2 years ago and I'm still annoyed.

Google needs to get over this kick and break up its services. If you guys think + is so great, you would be welcome to use it in any way you saw fit. Those who are not interested, can tell + where to go.

You are mostly male, and sites that women use are a bit different. I quilt, and a bigger bunch of old biddies I have never seen. They can get personal fast about your family life. I do read the sites for info on some problems, but -----I'd rather argue with an Apple fanboi.

If this + is a marketing ploy, it will be interesting. I just saw an article where a Pinterest pin means more to a merchant than a Facebook like. Pinterest seems to have cornered that bit of nonsense. Messiest site I've seen but very popular.

"It's not clear if ring was returned back to him"

She probably grabbed the ring and told him to go f... himself and now for every little nonsense she is planning to milk him for more money.

I don't think it was because she took the restraining order out the very next day. If he decides to actually do something about that, he'll either get the ring back or the money equivalent. Engagement rings are viewed as a conditional gift and are treated as a contact in case law. She broke the contact by not marrying him, so she's in breach.

As for this invite situation, I can't say that I'm surprised, but if Google really did send it out, then I'd believe liable for any damages he suffers.

I think something is not quite right about the wording used in this article. You don't invite people to join a circle. You either add someone to your circle or you can suggest a circle of people for someone.

When someone adds me to their circles, I get a notification that this happened. I know that it is possible to configure G+ to send you email notifications. I don't configure my G+ to email me. I have the G+ app and the notifications will appear in the app. I do know someone who says he receives emails when I comment on his posts in G+. I haven't seen what these email notifications look like. It is possible that the guy added the girl to his circle and G+ send an email notification to the girl.

I've seen some people in G+ suggest circles of people. They would create a post that suggests a circle. I don't expect such a post to trigger an email notifications. It is possible to configure G+ to send notifications when someone posts something. In that case the girl would have to have already added the guy to one of her circles and turn notifications on for that circle or contact and have email notifications activated in order to get an email about it.

I've sent invitations to people to join G+. This is the other way where I can see the girl getting an email about G+ from the guy. The guy would have to manually choose to send the invite. The invite would be to join G+. I don't think it would mention adding people to circles.

The way the email is described in the article, it seems to be inaccurate to me. They don't show what the email looks like. It is possible that something in G+ triggered the email being sent. I'm just not sure exactly what caused it and if the guy actively did something to cause the email to be sent.
