Further updates to the Commando 4G?

I wish I could uninstall my update. it has made my phone buggy despite several factory resets to make everything work perfectly. On top of that Physically the phone is not the tank that the c771 was and my confidence that my phone will survive prolonged exposure in the elements is in doubt. The charging port does not want to close completely and the plastic trim around the phone is starting to shift and creak ominously. Add the random wifi caused reboots and the poor battery life that the upgrade left me with I am bailing on this phone when my secondary line gets an upgrade in a month. I really loved the idea of this phone and I truly hate that casios poor execution on the device has made it so lack luster. I know its a niche device but it could have rivaled the samsung rugby pro or dare I even say it the S4 active. I dont see why we cant have a powerhouse phone that will also be milspec and withstand the abuse that us active types throw at our gear, phones included.

I'm not trying to piss you off or give you a hard time. Nothing I say here will change your mind. I know how you feel, this was my experience with the original Commando after the M090 update.

If you are the original owner of the phone and it is on the original line it was purchased for why in God's name don't you warranty it? It's less than a year old so there is little reason to endure these issues. In all likelyhood your replacement will still be on Ice Cream Sandwich. You would just need to root and freeze the update program and that would be the end of that.

I'm not seeing any of these problems that you complain of. Until recently, the Droid Razr Maxx was the end all be all, and I had one for over a year. From my point of view this phone works as well or not better than the DRM did on JB. That being said, JB was not a good OS for the DRM, but I digress...

Have you done anything to evaluate why the poor battery life? What app is keeping your phone from sleeping. What action causes the Wi-Fi to fail?

I work in agriculture & I'm a firefighter. Both jobs involve water, dirt, potential for drops & hits, and lots of grease. I have no concerns about it's durability, and unlke my DRM, I carry the phone with me always.

I'd warranty it. Having those kinds of problems is bullshit.

not pissed off and yes you are right. the problem is my local verizon dealer doesnt want to stand by their product and neither does the the company via their 800 number. They attribute the case to me dropping the phone or some other physical damage and they reuse to acknowledge the software side without physically seeing the phone reboot over and over again. It does it every time I lose wifi signal. **** them. I got the phone for free as my upgrade and I will sell it to purchase a new phone next month. I can buy a case to make a phone water, dust, and shock proof. The S4 or S5 will suffice nicely. If verizon didnt have the area coverage they did I would leave them altogether and not look back.

The update has been great and a noticeable improvement on my 4G commando.
I am very tempted to root mine now and freeze it and purge / freeze the Verizon crap ware on the phone. I have had two (2) bad SIM cards but the phone itself has been great thus far. I agree it does not feel as robust as the old commando but its light years ahead of it speed and function wise. The charging port especially feels cheesy and if not closed tight its guaranteed to leak.

I don't know why some people complain about phone after update. I did update mine through doctoror's rom and not any issue with phone, only things that are not working is the ussd and apn editor, but this is because Verizon. They want to avoid the use of the phone out of their network as much as they can. Have somebody tried to make a nandroid clean backup of 4.1.2 just right after the upgrade? If so, sharing this backup will be great because it will fix the issues of people that flashed the ca201l initialization tools. This is just my 5 cents about this.

Actually my ROM overwrites all changes made by initialization tools. And it was made almost fresh after update.
And a the backup backs up only system and boot of ROM part, but not the modem.
I wonder why wasn't your LTE fixed after you've installed C811's modem back.
I wonder if Doctoror will make a KitKat ROM?
I'm afraid I will not. This is beyond my skills for now and near future.

My phone is working 100% Ok. I don't know about LTE because I'm a GSM user. I flashed your rom and it worked very good, also I flashed your aboot.zip form cwm and now i can use combo key for recovery boot. No complains.

It is just why is it there too many people complaining about issues with LTE at 4.1.2 or they cannot update to 4.1.2 because they rooted and they can't take phone firmware back to ICS with no root.

My recommendation is: If you are in ICS rooted and you are afraid to update, do not fear to update following the procedure exactly as it is in Doctoror rom's post.
If you are in JB but with LTE issues, update following the procedure exactly as it is in Doctoror rom's post.

About a Kit Kat rom, It is not only beyond your possibilities, it is beyond famous XDA devs as chainfire and design gears i.e. Just take a look about devices like S4 and Note 3, they have to wait for a kit kat firmware leak just to develop a custom rom, this is valid for nexus devices too.
