I had thought that the moto g was a 4g phone. So, that's a little setback for me but still considering this phone. How is 3G speeds? It's been a long time since I used a smartphone so I'm a little hesitant as I have been using wifi on my tablet for a while and don't wanna be disappointed when something is a little slower.

How is web browsing and searching. Video too how is that? Because I do watch a lot of YouTube videos and when I'm out do plan to use my moto g.
I'm sure that itl be fine as the most I will use it for is posting on tapatalk, twitter.
Just a little curious about 3G.

It's pretty quick, actually web browsing is a lot faster than on my HTC8x which in theory has better spec. I really can't complain about the speed of the internet. Maps, web, FB work great when out and about (obviously a bit slower than on wifi). Haven't tried videos as I don't watch them on my phone at all.

For me it's fast enough. I switched carrier's from Verizon and their 4G/LTE service because now I will save $50 per month. I'm using Tmobile's prepaid plan.

I was a little disappointed the MG didn't have 4G but like I said, the 3G is good enough for me. Before the MG came out, I was looking at getting LG's F6 phone. It looks like a solid mid-range phone that offer's 4G and external SD Card slot.

I only get 3G on Verizon at my house, it's fine for browsing but honestly not good for YouTube. I don't even bother trying, I'll flip Wi-Fi on or just use the laptop. That's the only 'issue' I have with it, streaming video isn't worth the trouble but everything else is fine. My signal is decent, average is pretty consistently in the -85 to -90 range.

I remember watching Netflix on my iPhone when I had it.

Depends on service and area. T-Mobile's 3G is pretty fast, as it uses HSPA+. People report getting 8-10mb/s, but again it depends on your area. You can probably check Tmobile's map. Make sure you get the USA edition rather than the Global one if you go with T-mobile. ATT also uses HSPA+, which I think is comparable to T-mobile's

T-Mobile prices do not match with Boost Mobile. I'd rather pay $55 a month rather than $92 like my sister. She's on T-Mobile.

The $30 prepaid plan you get 100 voice minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data, but data will be throttled after 5gb. :smokingsomb: You also bring your own device.

I found this in their fine text. For that 100 talk minutes, unlimited text and 5GB of 4G, they say "Only phones brought in from Wal-Mart or phones activated on T-Mobile.com are eligible". So that means no Moto G.

Any phone can be activated via their website. Buy the correct sized prepaid sim kit for you phone and it gives you a website to go activate it on.
I'm using a Nexus 5 on it.

Is there anything special to do to get the $30/month plan?
I'd like to try their service, bring my Moto G and get that. Don't need many (if any minutes), but more to see how their data coverage is for our area.

It is only for new activations, so if you don't refill it within a specific time period, you'll have to get a completely different sim. It also has to be activated online, going to a store will only cause employees to look at you like you're crazy.
