Root Aloysius V7

I just saw V7 showed up in xda today..downloading now, sucks that I have to do a full wipe though..but..going for it anyways

Uh, dont wanna rain on your parade but I think the only dif between v6 and v7 is that spence removed the bootloader program because he was taking heat for releasing his rom with a program that is supposed to be a paid app.

Oh! I take that back, it is different...

From XDA Forum: Its also a new port with some cool stuff in it. I haven't looked at everything cause I have had so much work to do, but works great. This is LWP and supposedly Nav works with the newest version of nav.

This guy pumps out updates like no ones business!

I believe that is it. Wonder if he fixed the reboot issue? I also hear on xda there is a way to run lwp and still have the navigation and maps...

This could be quit an interesting rom. 1.5-2.1 apps, lwp and nav! Oh my :D

LOL posted same time. I think I will wait to see how it works for everyone else before going from v6 to 7. I think I was running sens-able and used jcase's openGL fix for lwp and both navi and lwp worked for me. It DID mess up the weather animations, and I must be the only one, but I removed the openGL patch in favor of the weather stuff.

I've been flip flopping from sensable vanila and aloysius. I'm flashing v7 as I type. I really like sensable so far but not using any lwp on it. And vanilla for lwp but its too bugy and requires a home replacement. It will reboot every time I get a text.

No complaints so far with aloysius 4.1 or 5 im going to skip 6 and go straight to 7

I love this new version, and yes it has more to it than just that program being removed..

live wallpapers run really smooth, and the maps work at the same time with no crash..cosmetically there is more blue themed items, especially the dialer. The signal meter actually changes with signal instead of being full white bars..and some of the icons look different i.e. programs, widgets in the menus etc.

The only downside is without the bootloader, just pressing the power button and telling it to power off causes a shut down screen to hang until you do a battery pull

Did you try using quickboot? It's free and apparently people are using that instead of the one he had on there with v6

And if the signal bars are actually accurate with this version, I might have to change soon.

Is the backup of the APN from a working Verizon rom and a restore of the APN info to the Aloysius rom a mandatory thing with this one? The only thing I dislike about the rom is that it is a non-verizon based one. I know it works, I tried it (v6) briefly yesterday but noticed I had almost 7 bars of signal (very odd for my location that barely gets 2 normally) and couldn't send MMS by default. (I didn't do the APN thing)

I would assume it needs done for each version. To confirm, go into your native messages app, menu > settings > connection settings if your MMSC says anything like sprint...it should be changed to receive mms

yep, just got quickboot, the only thing I dont like about it is there is no power off feature, only reboot.

Also I noticed when you search in the market for the previous, boot loader, it does not show anything, I was ready to pay my 1 dollar

search "reboot control" or protocol - x .....both ways it should come up

I just installed v6 last night. Do I have to do a full wipe to flash v7? I just got my contacts working and everything restored...

you could try it without a wipe. When I switched from v4 to v5 I forgot to do a wipe and everything ran fine for the 2 days I had it. Worst that could happen is you get more errors than you're willing to deal with and have to wipe and reinstall.

it is always better to do a wipe. phone will run smoother.

I just installed this today. I'm really liking v7. My only complaint so far is the sense bar thing. I'm not digging the clear.

what you mean, clear? can yuo take a screen shot?

The "thing" at the bottom where you would view all apps, make calls, and add widgets.

Has anyone tried syncing Facebook? It won't let me add just the Facebook account, only Facebook for HTC Sense and I login. Then I sync all and it syncs for like 10 seconds and then stops. Now none of contacts are synced. I've tried syncing just Facebook for HTC by itself as well.

Other than that, I purchased the Reboot Control and this is my favorite ROM yet...

Also, can anyone verify that Maps and LWP work? Thanks!

Ahh, the rosie. You can edit that pretty easily. I would post where to look right now but at work and not even supposed to be on here right now, lol

Thanks. I had no idea what it was even called. Hard to search for things when you don't know their name. If you can give me some instructions or link me some whenever you're available, I'd very much appreciate it.

wow. so theres a way to edit rosie without flashing a new rom??? So is there a way to add extra shortcuts into the rosie without having to use helix launcher??? looks as if there is plenty of room in the aloysius rom for that. And btw, aloysious v7 is goreous, but still force closes alot, it stopped d/l'ing apps from the market. all it does now is freezes. missing some settings widgets that im accustomed to, but nav and lwp works. Im gonna hold off on reflashing until v8 or 9 is released. i'd totally support his stuff. great looking rom regardless of the bugs. kudos to spencer.
