Best Buy Pre-order does NOT include sdcard

Hello all,

Just got back from Best Buy. Long story short, the Nashua, NH BB DOES have their Incredibles in stock and it will NOT include the 2gb SDcard.

After reading on here about the sdcard, I called BB but never made it through to anyone at Mobile. So I decided to run down there and just talk to them in person.

The girl I talked to was very rude about my questions. I told her about peoples concerns that other BB's were saying they didn't have their shipments yet. I also asked about the SDcard and if it would be included, and if not, would BB be willing to give me one anyway to match verizon's offer. I then asked what BB was going to do for me tomorrow morning if I came in and they didn't have them in stock. I leave for a trip soon and wanted to make sure I had my new phone before I left.

Her answer was "we can't talk about the incredible, if you pre-ordered one you will get one, I can't even tell you if we have them yet or not" and her answer about the memory card was "If it's in the box you get it, if its not in the box you don't get one and we won't give you one for free"

Being rather pissed off, I drove to the Verizon store just down the street. The guy I talked with was very nice, told me that they had their Incredibles and they had some left. I asked about the memory card, and was told he would go check. When he came back he said, "yep they come with a card. I didn't think they did, but they are back there". I told him I wanted to reserve two of them through him, and we began the paperwork. He asked why I waited so long to try and reserve one, and I told him the whole story. He stopped working and advised me to call BB back and make sure they would take my giftcards back. Thinking that was sound advice I called and they said yes I can get my money back. Good deal. I finish with the VZW store guy and head back to Best Buy.

When I tell the Mobile guy (different person this time, the girl is no-where in sight) that I want to return my pre-orders, he says sure and asks why. I tell him the whole story about the SD cards (I left out the rude BB employee). His immediate response is, "well let's open one up and take a look." WTF!?! 30 minutes earlier I'm told to shove it, and this guy literally hands me a box and tells me to open it and take a look! Turns out there are NO SDcards included with the BestBuy Incredibles. The employee said he didn't think he could get me free cards, but he'd be willing to try! What the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks! I then proceeded to tell him all about his fellow employee who was rude to me, and told them it was to late, I'd already finished with the VZW store and BestBuy had lost my sale. He refunded my gift cards with no problem and told me to have a nice day and wished me luck with my new incredible.

Long story short, BB blows. Last time I pre-order anything through them.

My Best Buy still doesn't have them in stock and they don't know when they'll get them. So I ask them: is there is a tracking number or anything that gives you any sort of inclination as to when they might arrive? Nope, apparently they just order shit and it arrives when it arrives and no way to check on the shipments progress. Absolute bullshit.

Unbelievable. If I go in tomorrow to pick my incredible up and they don't have it, I'm cancelling my preorder, getting a refund on my gift card and never preordering anything from Best Buy again.

What is the whole point of preordering it if I'm not guaranteed to get one on release day?

EDIT: Southern California.

That's what I said. And that's when she gave me the If you preordered it you'll get it, but we can't even tell you if we have them BS. I mentioned the problems BB had with the BlackBerry Storm and she looked at me like I had two heads.

Whatever, its all over with. I get 2 phones in the morning at 9am when VZW opens, instead of 10 when BB opens.

Now all I have to do is remember to fill out the mail in rebate forms...

Manager at My Best Buy (West Paterson, NJ) assured me that if the 2gb card wasn't in the box when I come in tomorrow that he will honor Verizon's offer and give me one.

You just need to be polite and make sure you talk to someone with authority and i'm sure they'll be very willing to help you.

I also tried to get him to honor that $30 coupon that was floating around the other thread but he said probably not and I didn't feel like be pushy.

I don't understand why people are freaking out over a 2 GB SD card.

I didn't receive one with my Verizon order (got my phone yesterday) even though I was supposed to. I don't care because the card is probably worth, at most, $5. I have a 8GB Class 4 that I got for under $20 that will serve me better anyway.

I understand you are probably frustrated with the whole situation, but I don't think a 2 GB SD card is worth the stress you went through.

I was definitely more then polite to both of the BB employee's. As soon as I mentioned the word Incredible the girl I dealt with the first time decided right there she wasn't going to answer any questions and instantly became rude and caused me to take my business elsewhere. I've never been treated like that at BB before, I've bought many computers, tvs, appliances, etc. from them and have always been treated well by polite, respectful employees. On more then one occasion I was upset about something else, and I could tell the BB employee understood that I was upset about something and went out of their way to be extra polite and courteous to me.

I was blown away by a BB employee being out-right rude to me. I've dealt with employee's who obviously didn't fully understand their own products (always seems to be in the camera's), but never an outright rude one.

Ha. Not true. Trust me, I have no reason to be rude, the guy I've been speaking to is simply unhelpful, nor does he care to be.

I just want to know if I can get my phone tomorrow or not, that's it, though I do appreciate your belittling advice to be "polite,” dad, but this goes without say. No actually I told him to eat my ass and choke on a bag of dicks, I then told him to put his testicle-warmer to good use and tell me when the F I’d get my phone and – you won’t believe this – he didn’t assist me. No idea why!

Of course we are trying to obtain information in a polite manner; however, being polite doesn’t necessarily yield an equally reciprocating polite and helpful response, some people just suck at life.

I got this same kind of response. Ridiculous.

I'm more upset with how I was treated then not getting a card from BB. I'm sure in time I'll want bigger SD cards, but for now the 2gb combined with the 8 on board will be more then enough.

In BB's defense, this was a VERY last minute action taken by Verizon in order to band-aid over the "third party apps not seeing the 6.6gb" issue. Units have been in channels for a few weeks now. BB had no specific information about the 2gb card. At least what was shown to me as of today. This all seems Verizon's fault and not BB's.

I must have great luck with BB staff, since been to stores in Ky, Oh, Fl, Tx, Tn, Wv and Va. Never encountered a rude employee. Some knew a lot less about the products they covered than should have, but never rude.

Besides, a 2gb card with media today is about worthless and less than $7. Still, it could be used for a camera...

I'm guessing you've never worked in customer service at Kohl's. Like you said, some people just suck at life and most of those people are consumers not CSRs. But I seem to have offended you so sorry for my "belittling advice," son.

Either way I wish you the best of luck getting your phone.
