Help my new nexus 5 & issues

So, I got my nexus 5 yesterday.
Everything seems fine. But I'm having issues opening my emails (yahoo hotmail acct) using the email client that nexus 5 provided. I synced it with my phone. I keep getting error message saying "unfortunately your email has stopped". It does it with my gmail but I'm able to open it.
Any idea what's causing this? When I first had it synced it was fine. Bit when I got up this morning I got that error message.
And when I do try to open it and get that message, that message will pop up couple of times afterwords.

I DL task manager. It seems there r a tons of app running in the background. How do I keep from running in the background and keep it from eating up my memory?

Hope y'all can help cause this new phone is driving me crazy.

Also any virus/malware protection you guys can suggest in the google play store? Something that is not bloated and eat up my memory but does it's job. And if my phone ever gets stolen or lost i would be able to track it down or remotely turn it off.

Free but if it's worth it i'll get the paid version.

It's unlocked.

I would uninstall that.
You dont need a task manager or task killer with android any more, it does a very good job of managing memory itself. Empty ram is wasted ram with android.

You dont really need antivirus with android either, the only threats come from apps from unknown sources and apps with permissions they shouldnt need. If you read the required permissions when installing, and stick to reputable sources for apps you wont have any issues. Malware on android has been hyped by the media, its not really a problem in real life.

use Cerberus to track and manage your phone if you want extra security though, its a great app.

There have been a number of high profile cases of legit apps being hijacked and loaded by malware after the app vendors account has been hacked. So I'd er on the side of caution and have something checking for malware at least.

SKY had this happen with all their apps last year.

An app I've used for ages suddenly got flagged as malware by just about everyone, and luckily lookout warned me and automatically blocked it.

If you download from the play store you really shouldn't need an antivirus app.

If it makes you feel better by all means have one, but downloading from play, reading reviews, and reviewing permissions can go a long way on its own.

The hacked Sky TV and BBC apps last year were on the play store. Hackers gained control of their play developers accounts and uploaded modified versions.

They also gained control of the twitter accounts at the same time, so don't assume everything is safe by using the play store and a known companies apps.

There was no evidence the apks were modified. As you mentioned, the twitter account was compromised and a fake tweet was sent out saying they'd been replaced.

Even if that were true...An antivirus app couldn't protect you from a 0 day attack like that either

The apps were replaced. Mrs downloaded it and it wasn't removed by Google from her phone over 16 hours after they locked down their account.

I was alerted by Lookout that one of the sky apps was pointing somewhere strange and doing strange things.

I sandboxed it, looked online and found out via the BBC site the apps had been compromised.

Since then I've also disabled automatic updates for ALL apps.
