Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

So I ordered my Adonit Jot Script from Amazon, and expected it to be here tomorrow. I just tracked the package and:

Good news: It is already out for delivery!!

Bad news: Adonit uses UPS (if you buy it on Amazon) which is very slow and always leave packages on porches. I'm getting it delivered to an office. We close in 45 minutes. UPS says it will be delivered by 8pm, despite my specific instructions that this is a commercial office.

Wonder how long it will sit on the porch before it gets stolen.

Idiots.

Ugh. Why is it that customer service, EVERYWHERE, completely sucks?

I am paranoid about this thing getting stolen, because UPS blows and they leave your stuff on porches no matter what. They don't even wait to get someone to answer the door. They just ring the doorbell and walk away as quickly as possible, with your package left behind.

So I get in a chat with someone from Amazon, and they assure me that they can send a message to UPS to deliver it tomorrow "in the day". I specifically ask "What does 'in the day' mean, exactly? Before what time?"

I am told "It will be delivered before noon."

"Before noon? For sure?"

"Yes, no doubt about it. Do you want me to tell them to do that?"

"Yes, please."

"Great."

Then I get an email confirmation a second after I log off, and it says

"Dear Ben, I am writing to follow up on our chat conversation.

I have sent a request to UPS to have them deliver the Stylus under Order ID: ###-####-###-##-## tomorrow by 12 Noon or before 6 PM.

I hope this helps and we look forward to seeing you again.

Best regards,
Leon Preston."

By 12 Noon or before 6pm?

What the hell does that mean?

So yeah, we know you close at 5pm. We will try and get it there by 6pm.

Ugh.

What the hell is wrong with these idiots. Why can't they just say the truth? For freaking once?

Ugh freaking idiots!!!

Of course the tracking info says "delivered - left on outside porch"

Left on an outside porch of a business, in the middle of a not-so-great part of town, where homeless people always sleep on business porches in the night??

IDIOTS.

Of course it's gone and now I'm on a chat with another idiot CSR who says they aren't responsible because it's a 3rd party seller (the dumb idiots at Adonit), blah blah blah.

I hate Amazon almost as much as I hate Best Buy.

I'd skip Amazon and call USPS directly - that is their fault.

But yeah Amazon uses Lasership as their courier service now and I really like them. I get stuff that has two day shipping, the next day. Amazon Prime is some of the best money I spend all year.

I chose Amazon Prime 2-day shipping, and it was delivered a day early, too. But it was stolen despite my warnings.

And it was UPS. They always just knock on the door and run away. They are totally incompetent.

These idiots at Amazon are too. I'm still talking to them.

Hmmm. This whole Amazon fiasco took a weird turn.

I was on the chat with a supervisor, asking for a refund, telling them that they lied to me about changing the delivery, etc., telling them that they need to do something about this, blah blah blah. (I was firm but not really too rude.)

They agreed to issue me a refund that would take effect in the next 24 to 48 hours, plus a $35 credit towards the purchase of anything sold by Amazon directly. Okay, fine, whatever.

As I'm on the chat, I figure I should cover all my bases and I ask an assistant if she can check with the other offices in the building to see if they got it (on hindsight, this probably would have been a good thing to try before contacting Amazon).

So yes, someone else got it and was going to drop it off to me when they got the chance.

So I sincerely apologized to the CSR. They offered to still give me the $35 credit, for some reason, which I of course refused and apologized profusely for my idiocy.

UPS are still idiots though. :smokingsomb:

That sucks, Han :(
Our sorta problem here is that UPS and Fedex can't get into our apartment building so you just get one of those notices for it and HAVE to be here when they deliver. If I'm ever given the option, I go for USPS who can get in and leave the box in the doorway. Never had an issue since (don't know everyone in the building but I've seen boxes sit for days, so I think it's pretty safe).
Did notice by the holidays when folks are buying a lot of stuff that it'd often be left outside. We never had things go missing, but maybe it was just good luck?
