Android 2.2 (HTC skipping 2.1?)

No this isn't another 2.1 thread, this is a 2.2 thread :p

Will the Droid Incredible Ever See 2.2? Other Updates? | Droid Life: A Motorola Droid Blog

If this is true, then I can bet a lot of you will be uber pissed. HTC is working slow on these updates and it is really starting to give HTC a bad name when it comes to Android. Are they seriously going to skip 2.1?

I sure hope this is a joke thread just to piss people off, lol. Sprint is not going to skip 2.1. The Hero can barely handle all of the parts of 2.1 so what would make you think it would handle 2.2?

Do us all a favor and don't bother posting these rumors, pleaseeeeeee!

Although this is not a CDMA Hero, the cellular frequencies and receivers/transmitters don't have any bearing on the CDMA Hero's ability to run 2.2. The receiver/transmitter is the only difference between the CDMA and GSM Hero. Otherwise the hardware is identical. If this one can run 2.2, the CDMA can as well. The real question is how the update will be delivered. First HTC will have to develop Sense UI for 2.2, and then it will have to be pushed to the phones. It's anyone's guess whether or not Sprint will be pushing out a 2.2 update for the Hero, although it is unlikely. It will probably fall to the devs over at XDA for that.
