Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

In my street we 'sort of' know each other. Some others order online regularly and some are elderly. We cover each other. Even got an older neighbour gent across the street signing for delivery, even though we told him that may not really be the smartest thing to do. The courier leaves a note in our mailbox, telling me where to go to. Ha, we're even on first name level with the couriers ;):D:eek:

Yeah, I've always had terrible trouble with UPS. I would rather have it Fed-Ex'd, because if I'm not there, they will leave a notice and I can just go by and pick it up.

But the primary reason I prefer FedEx is because they're smarter with common sense. If they are delivering to a business, they know they have to be there by 4pm the latest.

UPS doesn't care. If it's a business and it's 8 at night, they will just knock on the door, leave the package on the porch, and walk away. They know it's not going to last the night (depending on the neighborhood). They just don't care; they want to finish their route and get home.

The only reason this didn't end in disaster is because one of our business neighbors was staying late, saw the truck come and go, and knew to grab it and hold it for us til the morning. If he had gone home on time, it would have been stolen for sure; we have homeless people that sleep in the archway of our building from some time later in the night to about 7am, when the first workers arrive.

The thing that baffles me is Amazon's shipping confirmation email tells me a guaranteed delivery date... If bad weather hits the package doesn't make it.

I understand its out of their hands once they ship it, but don't put a guaranteed delivery date if your relying on another company to fulfill the guarantee

I'm not angry about it being late, it just doesn't make any sense that they'd guarantee delivery

I think it's pretty easy to get a refund on shipping if they guarantee a date of delivery, but it's still a hassle.

I wish they could do same-day delivery. I thought there was a whole thing a while ago about doing same-day, with so many distribution centers now in place.

Or at least start the drones.

Something.

I've been watching a lot of Chopped on Amazon Instant Video. I know I could never do it because when it comes to cooking I am not that imaginative and I'm horrible at putting the right spices together. Getting out of cooking was a good choice on my part.

You ever see something like chopped teenage show? Imagine the same show, but with kids!!! Those kids are some real good cooks, but add that stress to the mix it gets intense.
However I seen those kids deal with mishaps better than some adults.

Congrats to Halon, who wrote Post 33,333! :D

This Watering Hole now has the most posts (and views) of any thread in the Lounge - a record broken only by the Epic Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread, which holds the record as the largest thread in AF history!

Two years and a month ago, BB started this thread. And it's still rocking on!

:)

Well, today I had a tweet favorited by John Legere, the boss of T-Mobile.

Steven58 ‏@StevenSVS1
Went to @TMobile in NYC. @JohnLegere frequents there. Clerk says it's been a madhouse since #CES2014 Lots of #VZW defections. #competition

I went into Tmo store in NYC and the salesman told they've been mobbed with vzw defectors. He also told me that because legere lives in the neighborhood, he's stopped in a few times. #cool.
