Root prevail stuck in stock recovery

The simplest solution would be too reflash the phones firmware.

This is a link to the newest (stock, unrooted) firmware
http://www.mediafire.com/?5l32affsvq7yu5o

You install it using Odin.

Instructions in this thread

Or, if they want a little more out of their phone, they could root & rom it.

http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...od-rooting-prevail-dummies-written-dummy.html

the benefits (other than the obvious) include
- the ability to mount an ext4 partition you would create on their card as /data (giving the user considerably more room for apps)
-debloated
-option to oc
-extended power menu
And more.

ok i got it to boot once after i ran odin and flashed phone and pda. i rebooted and im stuck in recovery again... should i flash boot? and or csc? i know boot is the bootloader but in not sure what csc is or does.

I would use all 4

-boot
-phone
-pda
-csc

i don't recall what csc is (its been a while  ) but it won't hurt to include it :)

ok it boots up when it wants too. i think the vol up button sticks tbh. i managed to get cwm on it (which is more familiar territory to me lol) from here i should be able to just flash a rom and call it good am i correct?

Yep

Just stay away from the ics roms

the camera doesn't function. We don't have drivers for it

so the recovery reverted back to stock and is stuck in recovery again? it seems like the divice is borked. any thoughts?

If you only flashed the recovery, then the problem is recovery-from-boot.p

The stock ROM overwrites cwm on boot unless you flash the stick.zip file from recovery, before the os boots

The other option is to flash a pre-rooted image, which will include cwm and already has that patch removed
