I am looking for a good receipt scanner. I have tried several different apps and I did not like any of them. What I would really like is a scanner (piece of hardware) that attaches to the micro usb port on the phone that can scan receipts with. I have done many searches and I don't think such a device exist.
Here is my problem. I manage the accounting for a small non-profit. Up until now, I have done things the old fashion way keeping all the paper receipts. I want to move to paperless for 2014. My main problem is that there are several people that have expense accounts that live hundreds of miles apart. Most of these people are not tech savvy at all and if it is not drop dead simple, that cannot faithfully use it. Most of the apps I have tried require many steps to complete the scanning, saving and transmission of a single receipt. This way too complicated for the people I need to use it. I need an app that is one button simple. I need an app that I can program to do all of the steps automatically. All I need is a good quality image of a receipt. I don't need the sender to type in anything. I would like an app that I can program to automatically send me the image of the receipt after the person takes it.
Let me give you an example of what I am talking about. Say, one of my people make a purchase at walmart. This is what I would like for them to be able o do. Take out their phone, push one button to launch the app, the app launches and they line it up on the receipt and press a button to snap the shot, the phone automatically focuses and crops the image and sends it to me. That's it. I don't need them to type any data, create any memos, type a report. I just need a good image at my end and I can do all the rest.
I believe an actual piece of hardware would be better for receipts. Something like the MSI MS803 Multifunctional USB Mini Portable Document Photo Card Scanner, but for android.
Any suggestions?
