Got the phone today, and the camera takes decent pictures, but when I press the video button, the screen turns very black, and the video recording starts. At this time, everything I'm viewing is very very very dark, and even when there is light, it's still very dark. Is there anything to tweak? Even recording with the flash on inside the house, it's very dark. This is really frustrating as I need a working camera that can record.

I was going to suggest what you decided. It's new, it's defective, so give it back. (NY has a warranty of merchantability, so don't let them tell you that the only warranty is what's in the book. The W of M can't be waived except by court order. Since the phone was sold to take videos, and it can't be used to take videos, REFUND!)

How's the snow in Commack? (I have a niece who lives there, so I recognized the zip.)

I don't think it's defective, it just has a horrible camera all around. The picture mode lags as it has no AF. I'm on with a supervisor now because this crappy switch made me lose my 55 limited unlimited plan, and that's what really pisses me off.

I'll be returning for a refund, and buying a LG F3 or F6.

I think its defective too, but I don't really record videos that much. If the camera was one of the major things you needed this was obviously a bad choice for you. But you can't say the entire phone sucks because of that one bad aspect. You already knew the camera would suck... There is a thread about that.

But if you need a camera the F6 is a good choice although it has extremely limited storage you need to root and use a init.d tweak to swap external SD card with internal.

Camera wasn't a major thing I needed, but I didn't expect it to suck that bad to the point where it would make me not want the phone.

Yes, I'm aware of the storage space with the F3 and F6 which is why I chose the Fierce because of the little extra space but the Fierce is almost extremely limited too, but I don't install games so I should be fine with just the few applications I need. I do plan to root so I can remove a bunch of bloatware, and free up some more internal space, and I'll check into the tweak to swap the two.

Settings can be done in camera mode and once you click video they will be there

Tried every setting, and it's still dark. The only way for it to record with brightness is to make sure I'm in FULL light before hitting record, but then as soon as you turn away from the light source, it goes to crap real quick. My Motion never did that as it was a better camera, but still. At this point in time with the technology we have, there honestly should be no reason for even the low end phones not to have pristine features such as a good camera.,but that's just my opinion.

You can try using the stock jellybean camera. Never had a issue with it I checked and videos work just fine, not amazing but decent quality. If you have a SD card, go to setting / storage and change write disk from phone storage to SD card, up to 64 GB is no way limited.

Yeah, I just said screw it, and ordered the S4. I think I'll be most happy knowing I have tons of internal space, and never have to worry about deleting stuff, and stuff, having a outstanding camera when needed.

Sorry but I don't see ur attach and so you got auto focus? How?

Couldn't of, the camera doesn't have it regardless of any tweaks. Unless he physically changed the camera on the phone. It will stay the same.

I received my S4 yesterday and what a beast! 13MP camera takes amazing photos, and awesome HD videos, and the phone is just absolutely amazing, but I returned it and I'm going to go with the S3

It it's a defect in the phone, nothing settings can fix. I'm on my second one now and same issue, except I can get it to work sometimes, not enough to really use though... I found that if you have the flash on and put it real close to something and basically "overload" it then it will record like it should, but it goes black after a second or two, and then you can keep doing that our wack the camera with your hand and it'll work, then black, and keep with that pattern if you keep hitting it. It sucks cuz I really like the phone, but I've got a new baby so I need to be able to take videos...

LOL...why? Because the S4 was so expensive? I can understand that.

I had an S3 before and it was hard to give up for this phone but Verizon was raking me over the coals every month. They're so expensive.

I bought a 32GB Micro SD for this phone and I've been pretty happy. The voice coverage has been better than expected. My wife called me on Saturday when I was out riding my bike in the middle of nowhere, I was surprised that the phone not only worked but the call quality was excellent. Data coverage is about what I expected, pretty bad out in the sticks but I knew what I was getting into when I went from Verizon to T-Mobile.

Yes, the camera has no AF. It doesn't take great pictures. And the video is pretty terrible in low light conditions. Oh well :) I was able to take a pretty good video in good lighting, so I guess YMMV.
