Amazon's shipping

My brother just got amazon prime! Congrats to him. He ordered a cup from amazon and used the free 2 day shipping. When the package came here, this is what he found. Honestly, this is not something that I would expect from amazon at all. I have never had this issue.

He is getting a refund for the cup tho. But that's not the point.

Wow, that is truly surprising! They are usually great about packing stuff. I guess the bubble wrap person was on break when that box went down the line.

Ya. There was one piece of bubble wrap and a metal zippo lighter together. Generally Amazon is great with packing thongs, but this one was careless.

I buy most everything from Amazon, my Prime membership paid for itself in the first month.

While I've enjoying stellar service, any company can make a mistake. What counts is how they rectify the error.

Overall I've saved a lot of money, since so much of what they sell is discounted. With the two day shipping Prime provides it's a truly outstanding service.

I got a "mistake" box packed like that. Addressed to me, no order, no shipping list. Wasn't my order. Amazon told me to keep it since they couldn't track it. Warehouse error, I think.

The worst shipping was Adorama Camera. They replaced a defective tablet, and just sent it packed in a plastic wrapper - no box, no bubble wrap. I kept it since it worked, but let them know.

this is not something that I would expect from amazon at all. I have never had this issue.

I've had this problem about six times over the last three years. They package things poorly and mainly don't put enough protection in there. They will throw in a heavy item with a CD and the CD case always gets crushed. Or stuff arrives broken from poor packaging.

Nevertheless, they always send me a new item right away. I always fill out the "Leave Package/Feedback Delivery" report on the order page...for good and bad packages. Do it...it lets them know they have a problem.

They are just getting lazy and cheap. Mainly the conditions and pay at these warehouses are pretty poor...there have been a a number of articles about it in the Seattle Times, a paper which, ironically, seems to be in a grudge match with Amazon.

If it wasn't for the great customer service, I would have stopped using Amazon for this reason alone a while ago.

are you sure you ordered from amazon and not from seller on amazon? does it have a smile on box and amazon tape? Even if it was packed poorly, give them a call they are going to give you either another one or refund it.

Yeah because usually its another seller and might just say "fulfillment by Amazon" but it's not up to "Amazon" itself to package it. Especially if you're buying used

My brother used Amazon Prime's 2 day shipping. And it comes broken. Ha.
Not defending Amazon in anyway. I wanted to make sure it was their fault. I'm getting very unhappy with amazon latly as well. They sent me a wrong pair of shoes last order, and order shipping preparation was 4 days. Last week I've ordered a few things as well, and it has almost been a week and some items have not even left a warehouse. I also hate their new shipping methods like UPS speedpost and fedex sureport or something like that.

Like others have said I order a lot from them as well. I've never had a packaging issue but the few times I have had other issues Amazon has always bent over backwards to make it right. Great Service. And with a student discount the Prime membership is the best thing since mayonnaise in squirt bottle.

Prime membership is about to increase. It might be around $100 a year now. Time it takes for them to ship the goods is getting ridiculous. If there is any transaction problem they never notify me and my order just sits there unshipped. IMO experience with Amazon is getting worse every time I order. Some ebay sellers are doing better job than them. Only store I have great experience is Newegg. I had experience when I place order one day and its at my door next morning with free shipping.

I think, these "fulfillment" warehouses are terrible places to work, they (Amazon) have been on the news here because of the collective low morale at all of their depots, in particular before Christmas. They treat their staff appallingly (all agency staff) & push for speed over quality.
And yes, these cardboard packages are awful, they get pushed through the main postal service which gives them even more chances to get damaged or go missing (the Royal Mail postal service here is also notorious for the same problems at Amazon, add to that, theft).

Amazon packaging is bad but you should see the tiny plastic bags that people send worldwide. In a Royal Mail depot, sorting of such "packets" involves wanging it as hard as you can in the direction of a mailbag in a cage. They'll get sold off soon, hopefully.

USPS lost a package of interview letters and refuses to pay insurance until we price they lost it, even though their tracking still doesn't show delivery

Amazon Prime hasn't had a price increase in NINE years, it's about time, they're entitled to it given the rising cost of fuel and overall shipping expenses.

I've used it year after year and always had my packages in two days, in perfect condition. On average I receive eight to ten packages each month.

But this is the internet where haters hang out and love to bash companies. I'm not saying Amazon doesn't make mistakes, but some of what I read here seems exaggerated or biased against them.

I myself am extremely pleased with Amazon.

Me too. I perfer to buy from Amazon due to free shipping and no tax in the state of illinois. Every once in a while they will make a mistake, but that no reason to stop buying from them.

I have heard wonders from Amazon Prime and with everything you get from it, it can easily pay for itself in 1 month. They should raise the price of it, maybe like $100! It will still easily pay for itself.

I don't have Prime. I order a lot of stuff from Amazon though and have never had a shipping breakage or packing issue. Usually they're packed with more protection in the box than the item is valued at. ;-)

But the last two things I've ordered had some very bizarre shipping predictions of about a month out. WTH is up with that? I just got this one this morning.

I like Amazon, but I agree they have been getting slower and slower with their shipping. I think they are trying to discourage people from using the free super saver shipping at all. You used to pick which shipping speed you wanted before you got to the final checkout, now you have to make sure you go back and change it manually. The shareholders are wanting Amazon to show profits and we all know what happens to good companies when the bean counters take charge...
