Root defunct

-_- [insert long drawn out line of sighing and expletives]

So, on my way yo the dog-sitting gig I have today, I dropped my external hard drive. None of you guys would happen to know of any data recovery stuff on the cheap would you? I don't really care about much on that drive, except that it has valuable family pictures on it. GO ME for trying to multitask. Also, screw this backup (since, you know, I no longer have a hard drive to back it up to.). I'm just gonna wipe it. Expect me back up and running tomorrow. :D

Edit: Shameless plug for me: I suck at painting normally, but I think I got this whole Gameboy painting thing down. :)

Hirens boot cd is free and has recovery software
I'll have to check it out. I haven't used hirens boot cd in ages. not since winxp days

But yeah, the drive is bad. It starts spinning fine, then fails to seek or whatever. Sounds like when you put a scratched cd in the drive, where it just keeps trying to read the disc, and gives up.

Well, tried the whole shoving it in the freezer trick, that didn't work. -_-

Thats the same issue I had with mine. Granted I didnt drop my laptop, but it did still boot ubuntu after like a year of waiting and was super slow. I want to recover my steam games off it. I miss painkiller and killing floor :(

nobody has an ouya lol
Kickstarter backer #29126 right here baby!

Wait...killing floor for the ouya?! 0_o isnt that an android based console?! Doesnt that mean it could port to a phone/tablet version? I dont have an ouya and had no desire to get one but I want one now!
Yeah, it just came out this week I believe. I was hoping it could be ported, but OUYA has their own api library, so it might not be possible. OUYA gave the kickstarter backers some store credit for all the issues they had, so I'm thinking of using that towards it. :D

I've tried to flash this kernel several times and always get stuck in a boot loop afterwards. It comes up with the green android for a second, then the red light illuminates and it restarts.

I saw in another thread that some of these devices react differently to the new kernel, has there been any progress made on this? I'd really like to see 1.9Ghz!

Thanks in advance!

Its default, but maybe cdz can do something about that?
I wish. I have no idea where to set it. Looked high and low, but got nothing. Sometimes it defaults to 1.4 for some reason o.0 while others it overclocks to max, and others it clocks to 1.19 (stock clock). I don't understand it at all. -_-

And I'll put this here for now, as a warning: The kernel will no longer overclock to 1.9, it tops at 1.8. Due to a bug in the kernel, it was displaying a higher clock than it was actually at. This has been fixed, and will be in the new kernel, which will be out within the week.

I'm not a fan of Apex, but overall, it's running pretty smooth. The useless google stuff needs to be removed though (Newsstand, books, movies, etc) as they should just be downloaded from the play store if they are wanted. Absolutely zero need to have them as system apps in a debloated rom.

As far as the wifi goes, they are going to stay as-is until somebody finds a better solution. Spz0 will just have to deal with it ;) I do not have the time to learn C and figure out why the driver compiles into a large filesize. All I'm concerned about is that it works with my kernel.

Did forget about news but thought books was taken out. Movies is there for a reason. Idk how many people watch YouTube from the browser (I do because the app is terrible imo) but without it you can't watch fullscreen videos from the browser (or chrome as the default is taken out). If you really feel its unnecessary I can remove it. I also need to put in the latest google play store. I left the og one in and for some dumb reason it doesnt always update. There is a workaround, but it doesnt always update to the latest, so its annoying to deal with.
I'll compile again with the latest/final changes. I have lots to do with it yet (reboot menu, settings menu, change lockscreen, smaller zip somehow [currently 300+mb], etc) so expect further releases as I make the changes. Feedback will be greatly appreciated and any assistance anyone can offer.
