How Hot is Safe

I bought a new Xtreme 2.1 amp car charger for my note 3. I noticed that although it charges the phone quickly if I leave it plugged in the phone got up to 110 F. I thought the phone stopped charging at 100% regardless of charger? How Hot is safe? Can you suggest an inexpensive car charger less likely to cause the phone to get hot?

110F is no big deal at all. I'm not sure what the chips in this phone are rated to but I'd feel safe at anything lower than about 60C (~140F). The cpu is most likely rated a lot higher than that but that's where my comfort zone runs out.

Thanks. I just don't see why it gets hot at all. Never does on any ac charger I've tried. The only time I normally have heat issues is when radio reception is poor. That wasn't the case. Anyway if I can find a good charger that doesn't cause heating at 100%, I'd feel safer.

I've gotten leery about using 3rd party chargers. I remember buying one for my Note 2 that while charging my screen looked distorted- needless to I didn't use that any more. I had another that made my phone so hot it felt like it was cooking.

When you use the Xtreme does that happen all the time?

I've been using the Anker 2-port car charger ($11.99 on Amazon, one port for my note 3, 2nd for my wife's iPhone, 24W/4.8A total output for the two ports combined) for about three months, and it works great, either single for my Note or in combination with my wife's iPhone. Takes a little over 2 hours to charge the Note by itself, from about 20%. I've never noticed any heat at all at the phone, and the charger is only moderately warm. So far, so good.

Well I was woken up at 4am one night by the "battery is too hot to charge" beep that I used to occasionally get with my S3, and I was SHOCKED to find out that it was actually at 142

Your Verizon N3 came stock with a 2a charger, (look at the label on the stock charger).

2a is less than 10c, the battery is prolly rated at least 20c meaning charging it at 4a should not be a problem.

Cheap junkie chargers with cheap boards can burn up your batt regardless of posted amps on the charger.

I charge my att N3 with the stock 2a charger and it does not even get warm.

I did read it, your phone gets hot. How hot is too hot.

How much did you pay for the charger?, do you have a link?

I don't use this but I bought them as Christmas gifts for my oldest daughter and my best friend. They love it. No overheating issues. My daughter would have let me know for sure.
