Battery % number in the top-left

I have the latest Kit Kat version on my Nexus 5.

Ever since I've owned this phone, I haven't been able to figure this out, but it's never really bothered me enough to dig into this any further. I figured now is about as good of a time as any to ask you all if you're experiencing this as well.

I have the battery % number displaying on the top-left in the status bar on my phone. I have not done any mods to the stock ROM nor did I make any changes to have that at the top left. In fact, I would love to get rid of it so I could get a battery app that has more options on it. But whenever I get the app, it just adds another icon on the status bar instead of replacing this one.

Anyhow, does anyone know where the setting is in the OS for this particular battery % number that is displayed for me on the top-left of the status bar by default?

I really think that's coming from an app rather than an os setting. Are you running any battery saving/monitoring apps?

Try swiping down your status bar and tapping the notification. It should take you to wherever that notification is coming from.

If it's an app, you'll need to find the settings within that app to disable the persistent notification (if there's an option).

Has it been there since day one?

Try rebooting into safe mode.

This will give us a better idea on whether or not it's coming from a user installed app.

If it goes away in safe mode, it's probably from an app you installed. So if it goes away, post up a list of installed apps and we can try to pinpoint the culprit.

That's the ironic thing, I'm not using ANY battery app. I used to have battery minder app but if I used it, it would add a second battery % number next to that one on the top left. So I uninstalled it.
Kid you not, I have no battery app installed on my phone.

It doesn't need to be a battery app. Any app that runs in the background has to have a notification in the top left.

Rather than have a redundant icon, some apps display battery info, for example, I have widgetsoid and it does the same.

Go to Settings > Apps > Running. Stop each 3rd party app until the icon disappears.

Just seen one of your screenshots, what's the toggle widget you have in your notification bar. Is it widgetsoid or power toggles or another one? Bet you its that.

It has been there since day-1 but I had the S4 before this so it could've been an app that came over when I set it up; this icon was not on my S4 though.

In safe mode, the battery number does NOT show. So it means it definitely is from an app I've installed. I have around 90 apps installed I think, so I'll have to think of a way to get a list on here for you guys to review. But that'll be tomorrow; bedtime now.

Thank you for all your help thus far! Now here it is, your moment of zen:

Soon as I saw this thread I knew it was the toggles app :D I switched that battery notification off from the beginning as it annoyed me. There's no default setting for battery percentage by the way, although there is that neat little app that shows it within the battery meter (only visable once the battery has drained a bit)
