Getting around the adobe flash issue?

Hello everyone,

First post here. I am thinking of purchasing a Nexus 7 as I am deeply embedded with the google side of mobile devices. I like google play, chrome, etc, etc.... with that said, I am reading that flash is no longer supported with the Nexus.

One of the main reasons I want to purchase the Nexus is to watch some videos (possibly with Amazon Prime, though most likely Netflix), read school books that I rent online through cafescribe, and watch some streaming feeds from the Big Brother house during the summer (don't laugh, I blog about the show ;) ).

The problem I am seeing is that Netflix aside, I think all of that requires flash. When I right click on my book at cafescribe, it clearly appears to be Adobe Flash. I am also fairly certain the streaming feeds are flash, though not 100% positive.

So I ask, are there ways to get around that, or should I not bother with the Nexus (or a tablet in general since I'm certainly not buying ipad or kindle).

Thank you

Thank you, I may be heading to the store tonight then. My s4 is just too small to read books on, but my laptop is not very easy to lug around the house. I think it may be time to enter the tablet world, and Nexus appears to be the best choice.

Now that I know I can do Flash, it's almost a no-brainer. Thanks for the help!

You're welcome, and trust me once you get a tablet you won't even know how you lived without it. The nexus will fill (and in all honestly probably almost replace) that gap between the phone and laptop. I think you'll love the nexus.

Oops, missed this point, I do not play Amazon prime movies. Might take a look at Puffin myself. Thanks

I can play Prime video in Dolphin without a problem (just tried). I also have Dolphin Jetpack installed - that could make a difference.

edit - one other check: is desktop mode enabled in Dolphin?

edit 2 - tried Prime in Puffin and video won't play. Flash works on other sites so it's an issue dealing with Prime (Google android and Amazon Prime compatibility - this has been an issue on lots of devices & browsers for a long time. I know because I've had to deal with it myself ...)

Think I will stay with Dolphin. I also have their Jetpack and I can play OK all the Flash sites I need. Can't understand why Flash is not still supported, it is still heavily used at major sites.

And why doesn't Amazon have an Instant Video app for Android like it does for iPad?

Amazon Instant Video on Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

btw, Prime HD works great through Dolphin on my Transformer Prime Infinity TF700T tablet but not on my N7.

Shows up as an installed app on mine, not a subscription, and the app page shows it as a $2.99 purchase:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cloudmosa.puffin

I'm in the US - are you? That could be a factor.

I have puffin free, I just looked. Sorry for confusion. I guess with paid version flash is include, that's why it shows up as app, whereas in free version the flash access is an added subacription. I should have just got the paid version.

I just tried prime with dolphin jet pack and videos won't play it just says oops page can't be displayed.

I don't have access to my N7 at the moment to try but one question - are you trying to play the HD version of the video or standard definition? I don't think HD worked on my N7 (it does on my 10" Transformer tablet). Also, does Flash work on other sites for you in Dolphin?
