Root question about Vvoice mail update with adds

There's a new update for visual voice mail but this thing comes with adds which is freaking annoying, good thing i was able to unistall updates to keep the old version without the adds but now every time i open the app a window pops up reminding me of the update it even puts it on the status bar, just want to know if there's anything i can do to block these freaking popups, any help at all would be appreciate it thanks!

You can turn the ads off in the voicemail app settings. You lose the transcription but it still works to show you the message and let you listen to it.
