Help [Resolved: Factory Reset] Unknown caller in call log

Every time I receive a call from or make a call to somebody in my contacts list, when I check my call log afterwards there is a call listed from an unknown caller at the exact same time as the previous call. This results in an unknown caller always being at the top of my call log, which isn't a huge deal, but is kind of annoying.

All my searches for the same problem I'm having turn up results about getting and/or blocking calls from unknown callers, but I am NOT actually getting these calls.

Any ideas on what is causing this? Haven't rooted my phone or anything. Thanks!

Edit: Downloaded the app Call History Manager, it's saying the contact name is "-1" and the calls are 5 hours long, regardless of the length of the call with a contact.

Has this always happened?

It has happened for as long as I can remember since getting the HTC One on Verizon back in August last year.

Did you clear your call history?

I have not tried clearing my call history.

Do you have contacts stored on the sim card?

Only six numbers are stored on the SIM card (check balance, minutes, etc.) while the rest are stored in the phone's memory.

Soft reset?

Soft boot (hold power plus the up button until phone restarts)?

Neither soft reset nor soft boot stop this from happening

Do you have a lot of contacts?

I have 162 phone contacts, plus about 600 contacts from gmail accounts.

Using 3rd party dialer screens?

I am currently using Dialer One.

Latest Android update?

Currently using android 4.3 which rolled out recently, but the problem was happening before that, too.

Yes, I can delete the unknown caller each time it happens. It's just that everytime I make or receive a call to/from any number, another instance appears in the log.


Also wanted to add that after downloading the app Call History Manager, it's showing that the number called is just "1" and that the call length is always 5 hours.

Remove dialer one.

Since its happened from day one, there maybe something local to your device. I've not seen that behavior ever. I don't have as many contacts as you but I don't see how that would cause this issue anyway.

So perhaps remove the dialer pad and clear your call history.

Uninstalling Dialer One and deleting the call log did not fix the problem.

Going to try a factory reset and see if the problem persists.

Did you ever have this problem again? I was having the same issue and have fixed it by factory resetting twice, but it just happened again. I think it happened when I accidentally called the wrong number and hung up right away (probably within 1 or 2 seconds). I don't want to have to wipe again, but I really don't want to have to keep having this persistent issue.
